Good afternoon everyone!

We're just over a week into the month and we're on a roll with yet more colour changes. Congrats to CinCrisis, Raya, sophy1996, Twilight Sparkle, Alicatt, myself (clappyclaps) and the Team for all reaching orange!



Our next scene stealing sidekicks are Timon and Pumbaa from The Lion King:


Timon is a meerkat and Pumbaa is a warthog, who meets Simba while he's in exile and teach him their carefree "Hakuna Matata" lifestyle which usually involves sleeping a lot and eating grubs. While Timon is self absorbed and likes to think he's the brains of the outfit, Pumbaa is likely the smarter of the two despite his childish personality.

Timon was voiced by Nathan Lane who you might recognise from The Producers, Mouse Hunt or The Birdcage. Pumbaa was voiced by Broadway star Ernie Sabella who was a friend of Nathan Lane. Sabella and Lane are some of only a few actors who have recorded lines together for a Disney film. At one point, british comedians Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson were wanted to play Timon and Pumbaa respectively, and in the live action remake (no comment), Seth Rogen voiced Pumbaa and Billy Eichner voiced Timon.

Fun facts, in The Hunchback of Notre Dame two men are seen carrying a deceased warthog that resembles Pumbaa, and originally the pair were meant to sing the entirety of Can You Feel the Love Tonight in a comical fashion, but Elton John decided not to use it as he thought it sounded horrible.
