My DD is turning 10 this week and has requested an Alice in Wonderland themed scavenger hunt. Google isn't helping me much. Anyone have any good clue ideas? We're in Canada so would need to be primarily indoors due to weather.

Indoor makes it tougher. Maybe contact a local mall? That might be a stretch depending on the number of kids. I'd suggest giving them clues to get PICTURES of them with things (so they don't just download from the internet). Like:
* A tea set
* A cat face
* Playing cards
* A small drink
* A large drink
* A hat (prefer a top hat, but that might be hard to find)
* Birthday candles (or some kind of candle)
* Cake
* Movie ticket
* A watch (bonus points for a pocket watch)
* Rabbit ears

If you do have a mall that would work, I would contact them and let them know what you have planned. Tell the kids not to run, don't break anything, etc. You can put the kids in groups, and hopefully have an adult with each group (not sure kids that age would have phones to take pictures).

Good luck!

We did a String Hunt one year for one of our sons. They chose a string (or thread you could use) which were strung all over the place. They slowly followed the string and found their prize or in your case possibly another clue. I remember it being a lot of fun for being stuck indoors. My son's birthday is in Feb, too. :)

Sorry....not much help on the prize part.

Well you gotta have a white rabbit somewhere in the mix, which could be a small plush or even a cottonball. Alice falls down the rabbit hole chasing after the white rabbit, maybe there's something the kids could crawl through as "going down the whole." I'd add a Cheshire Cat in some form or fashion, and a Queen of Hearts. Place these strategically around the house and have kids keep track of where they spy each of the characters. If they all have phones you could make it a photo scavenger hunt.

You could get creative and make the props, or you could keep it simple and use drawings or construction paper to identify the characters.

If you're doing it in your house, you could print pictures of characters from the story - Cheshire Cat, White Rabbit, etc. and hide them in different rooms, with the clue to the next one written on the back. Something like -

Head to the kitchen
In a spot you might wait.
The one you'll find here
Doesn't want to be late!

(leads to the White Rabbit, in/near the microwave)

My friend in the playroom
May think that he's clever.
But when Alice is lost,
He's no help whatsoever!

(leads to the caterpillar)

and so on.

You could hide real objects too, if you have enough of them - like a deck of cards, a pocket watch, etc.

If you're doing clues (instead of a list of items to find) get a box of #10 pencils (one pencil per participant), gently pull the erasers off the un-sharpened end and roll up a thin strip of paper with a clue on it. Stuff the clue into the pencil and carefully replace the eraser. Previous clue should read "The clue is in the pencil."

As for going to a mall, I took a group of teenage girls to a local mall to teach them about clothes shopping. With the adults, we had maybe 30 people there, which we planned to separate into smaller groups. Security seemed to come out of the woodwork. It was uncanny how quickly they showed up and asked us to leave. When we weren't doing anything wrong. Just sayin it would be a good idea to contact the mall management ahead of time and making sure they're o.k. with your plans.
