Scary Weekend at the Fort

OK that was really awesome looking! :wizard:

my only question is, with all that stuff in your campers, how do you have room for your family & clothes & supplies? :confused3...LOL...

The family in 1741 had a small TT and a ton of decorations. It reminded me of a clown car at the circus. For 3 days he was pulling out decorations and adding something.

Unlike the flamer we love the decorations at the Fort. We live in a cul-de-sac that never sees a lot of TOTers even though we had always decorated our house.
Also when taking our child around TOTing most people wouldn't answer their doors even when their lights were on.
So at the Fort we can all dress up, hand out candy, get candy and enjoy the festivities of the holiday. We love the decorations and how campers really get into the mood of the holiday. Most are very tasteful with the Disney/family slant. There are a few that might scare little kids but we avoid those if we feel our child can't handle it.

Hey, so I don't like the Walmart blowup things or blood splattered murder scenes or Mickey Mouse wearing a bizarre, blood stained Kabuki mask when I'm visiting Disney.

How does that make me pompous?

Sorry...I'll butt out of the thread now...I don't want to steer it off course any more than I have!

I'm just wondering why, if you like none of that, would you choose to visit at Halloween????? :confused3

I just noticed the V Agra tombstone in the second row. :rotfl2:

Naughty.

Gotta say the creativity in some of these displays really is super! :)

I am so looking forward to being at the Fort for Halloween in 2012. We are one of those over decorators too. Our house was 35 feet wide and had 12 huge inflatables in front of it, including a 12 X 15 foot castle. So yea, you could say we like to decorate. We will add ours to the other awesome displays others have put up in these photos. And Poo Poo to anyone who doesn't like it.:goodvibes

I loved all the decorations, we had a blast on our first Halloween at the fort and I think since the kids are grown we will try and make it a tradition from now on, by the way I am enjoying some Kungaloosh ( waited til this trip to try it for the first time) I will be more social next time, I am a little shy when it comes to meeting people. We decorated and I proudly displayed my green thong clothesline:lmao: We even splurged and rented a golf cart to go looping to see all the displays BTW if anyone saw a man "flashing for beads" at the golf cart parade that was my husband and I appologize for any trauma he may have caused:lmao:( he didi get some great beads:laughing:)

It is a little surprising that the fort fiends think you have to have been a member for some alloted time to have an opionion on this board. I have been reading this board for a long time and only joined recently. The tone seems to be fort fiends tend to have a sense of "it is our campground like it or leave it". That really is not a magical attitude.

I for one would like to camp where there is nothing but nature. What I am seeing and reading is nobody cares that maybe people want to camp at FW and not have all that stuff there. I know it is hard work I decorate my house, my lawn, and love the festivities. I do however want to go camping and feel like I am somewhat in the wilderness not in a neighborhood or trailer park. I don't camp at Halloween or Christmas at FW due to the people who do not consider what the true meaning of camping is. Not everybody wants to see all that stuff you have to consider that so if you choose to put it up you will have people who don't care for it. No reason though to be nasty and ugly about it, they are paying just as much for their vacation as anybody else so if this is something they don't like that people do they have a right to say so.

Yea that whole discussion was done. Why are you trying to stir the pot back up? If you come on a Thread that mostly Fiends are on and know their out look on the subject, disagree with them, and don't expect to get their opinion back? Interesting...You have chose not to attend due to your preference's. You also know there is a lot of time available at the fort where no decorations will be used. Disney has some kind of Halloween, Christmas, and many more decorations at most every guest area in the WDW area during holidays. The fort is our second home, we decorate our home sites. Anybody who doesn't wish to, thats their prerogative. I for one will go to see the wonder and the magic that ordinary people put together and make their own little piece of Disney.... TJ

Clearly you didn't read my post and understand what my point was. You just confimed my point that "you" do what you want with decorations without taking other campers into consideration. It is other campers second home and maybe they don't want to look at five 8 feet tall blowups across from them while camping. Trees are want I want to see! FW needs an HOA-lol!

Yes i did you didn't read mine. There are times you can stay with no decorating. Choose wisely.

BTW mine were 9 feet tall.

Maybe you should stay on Jackwagon Run with Larry. I'll see to it that no decorators get in the 400 loop.

Well, I for one think it's simply awesome that we have the likes of folk who believe they are the classy upper crust who believe they know whats good for us low life camping scumbaggers ,,they keep trailer trashy folk like me in check.

OMG,,arent trolls just the best !!:thumbsup2

Personally, I would like to go to a park and not see all this character stuff. I think there are a lot of people who would like to go to Disney and not have to see Mickey, Goofy, Donald etc all over. And what about Pooh - who really wants to see an overweight bear? I mean, if you like this stuff, that's okay, but I think Disney should have some consideration for those of us who really don't want to see Disney characters at a Disney theme park. I am trying to find a time to go when Disney doesn't have characters all over the park.

Well then, a big HOWDY to you. If you've been in "lurkdom" so long, why only now, do you feel it necessary to come in and stir the pot? This is just one of those things that make me go..."Hmmmmmm....".

If you want to enjoy wilderness, good for you!! When I was younger & physically able to do so, I would hike or boat into wilderness & just pitch a tent somewhere I thought was purdy. There are plenty of state and national parks where you can do just that. It's good that there are choices available so that everyone can do what they enjoy.

However, given the multitude of decorations of people staying at the Fort, who do not know their neighbors, or coordinate and plot evil decorating schemes, I'd say you are somewhat outnumbered. A good many of what you perceive to be the offensive decorators are not Disboard members or even know what the Disboard is. So much for YOUR theory.

Not another one.:rolleyes1

I hate to tell you this but Halloween and Christmas Decorations are one of the attractions/reasons the Fort is PACKED during these times. In fact, I bet it is already rather difficult to get reservations for next year. It has been this way for as long as I can remember so if you really think there are people who go to the Fort during these times and don't like the "atmosphere" then you really have been out of the loop for a long, long time. Oh, and of course, you would be WRONG!

There is a way to express your opinion without being hurtful and insulting. To say someone's decorations are tacky weather you like them or not is just not being a very nice person. And that is one thing I think Walt would object to. Opinion' are one thing and being courtious is another.
