Barracuda attacks are rare. They will attack shiny objects in cloudy water. They are curious and will follow you, which can get spooky if they're large.
I used to snorkel every weekend in the Keys and saw barracuda whenever I was in the water. Either a school of smaller ones (1-2 feet) or large loners (3-5 feet). Never had a problem but never wore anything shiny and would NEVER consider skinny dipping in the ocean. YOWZA!

that last time we were there has not put us off! In August you will see both myself and DH -( Minus any sparkly jewellry just in case
