scared WC might be "misplaced", how to protect it from going missing?

I don't want to say stolen, because I know that some accidents do occur. But we are renting a wheelchair, maybe 2 from an offsite company and I am worried that they might go missing while we are on attractions. My parents need them for the long walking distances, but they can transfer for the rides. How do you protect the wheelchairs? We are bringing a bike lock to lock the wheel to the frame, but if we need to rent 2, I don't know how well it would go over to lock the 2 of them together. I know that CM's must be able to move them around. HELP!

Are you planning on taking the wheelchairs through the lines or are you leaving them in the stroller parking?

If taking them through the lines, I would not worry. They are placed in a pretty safe place for you. If placing them in stroller parking, then maybe the bike lock.

We have a fancy stroller (think $1500, it was a gift from a company to my husband--somehow I know I will be afraid to use it) and I found a BuggyGuard. Ours looks like a Panda Bear. I bought it at buybuybaby with a coupon, so it was only $16 dollars.

I would think something similar would work, either through all the wheels or across the seat (can't use a wheelchair if you can't sit in it). Since you plan to rent these, why not ask the rental company what they have or recommend?

So, as peemag points out, you'll have the wheelchair/s all the way until you board the attractions? Very little chance of them being acquired accidentally or intentionally by the wrong person, but if you do decide to lock the wheels - ONLY where the Cast Members don't have to move the chairs from where you board to where you exit - remember you can only lock each wheelchair to itself, not to any solid object or even to the other chair. And if you exit the ride in a different spot from where you board, please DON'T use a lock. The CMs have to wheel your wheelchair - and if thieves can't move it, neither can they.

Also, if you are taking it through the lines to where the ride boards (which I heartily suggest - some of those lines are VERY long in terms of distance), you will not have time to lock the wheelchairs. In general, you will have 30-60 seconds MAX to board - there will not be time to lock the chairs.

If you take them in lines, please do not lock them. Even when you think the CMs will not need to move them, they often do!

If you park them outside, you cannot lock them to each other.

Really, I leave my $5000 manual chair and $16,000 powerchair all the time, and no one messes with them. However, CMs have to move them all the time!

I have lost count of how many times in the last 20 years we have left wheelchairs, scooters and strollers to ride an attraction and have never had any trouble. just don't leave valubles behind, I keep everything in a backpack so its easy to grab. Do make sure you label your chairs with your name and tie a brightly colored scarf to it for easy locating after a CM moves it. there will be others that look just like yours!
