I just saw a little "teaser" clip for Expedition Everest, a question for those of you that have ridden it........is it scary? They say it goes backwards then stops in a cavern type area, is this true? In reference of my fears I found the ride Dinosaur absolutely terrifying. It was waaaay to intense for me, I've tried it 2 different times and both times I end up hiding behind the person I'm with because I don't want to see that big dinosaur at the end. :rotfl2:

Maybe my fear is that something is going to be chasing me throughout the entire ride!! How big is this Yeti? ha ha I've had nightmares about evil things like Yeti's chasing me........maybe I have some other issues I need to deal with here :rotfl2:

Sorry to admit folks but yes I'm an adult, I just scare easily :goodvibes

Was anyone else scared?

I think it goes too fast to be scared... the Yeti is pretty big... but the whole thing is over in like what seems to be 2 secs.... go on it !!! its a BLAST!

I believe the Yeti is 15 feet tall. He's pretty big, but as the AP noted, he's only there for a couple of seconds. Have a great trip!

The Yeti is pretty big but you do go by him pretty quickly, that is toward the end of the ride (he is actually really cool looking, Disney did a great job). The people I was riding with and I all jumped and were startled more by just the shadow of him that you see towards the beginning of the ride - just came out so quick! That was pretty funny!!

My son is 4 and he rode Dinosaur last year and passed on it this year. Wanted nothing to do with it... He rode EE this year and LOVED it (rode it twice).

Hope this help!

I wasn't to scared because we saw a video of what the ride was like before we went on EE.I would say the scarest part would be going up because they take you higher up then your going to drop! The first time going backwords I held on because I didn't know what to expect. It wasn't bad.:)
On the 2nd time we went on I put my hands up going backwords and took them right down because it felt like you were going strait up!
If you sit on the left (or you can sit on the right and look over) you can see the track flip!Going down the drop was so fun!!!!!!
And I don't like the feeling in your stomich, but this ride for me didn't give me the feeling of butterflies. If you ride sit toward the back if you want speed, toward the middle was great, and in the front to see the drops!
I only sit in the middle!

The Yeti was not bad. He was huge, but not as realistic (at least in my opinion) as the dinasours, and he does not get "in your face" like the dinasours seem to do. To me, the scariest part was the anticipation of going backwards. However, that was over so fast, I didn't mind too much.

If you want to see the whole ride...this site has videos that people took while on Everest. You can see most of the ride except when it goes backwards in the dark. If you would rather be surprised and not know exactly what to expect then you shouldn't watch this....it could ruin the fun for you. I still can't decide if I'm going to try it or not!

Dinosaur is terrifying - I'm a roller coaster junkie and can handle just about anything but Dinosaur is a different kind of scary. I can't stand that and neither could me kids (9 and 4).

My 4 year old son went on Expedition Everest 3 times. It it a wonderful roller coaster - intense enough to be fun, but not so much that you can't enjoy it. I think it's the perfect Disney ride.

It looks scary! I can't wait to go on it this August. I remember the first time I went on TOT when it first opened and I had butterflies in my stomach..i hope this gives that same excitement

Thanks for all of the opinions, I did watch the video and it doesn't seem that bad so I think I'll try it. It helps knowing what's coming up next on the ride which is why I love it when people tape the ride :teeth:

I am also a roller coaster junkie, they are mostly outside and viewable at all times so you can see exactly what you're going to go through.

I am excited to try this roller coaster now, thanks everyone :thumbsup2

LOL! You are not alone, I am also scared to try this ride, I have already told my party that I am not riding it the first time. They can ride it and then if they don't think it is scary I'll ride it

I am not ashamed to admit that I've never actually seen Dinosaur because I close my eyes right after the "time travel toaster oven" bit and only open them when I hear that we're back in the lab. Even then my heart pounds because I hear things popping out at me, and that's more than enough to get me going.

So when I went on Expedition Everest I made sure, since I knew there would be a large Yeti somewhere along the ride, to close my eyes nice and tight anytime we were in the dark areas. Now, the first stop the Yeti is on a screen and that's not very scary. But apparently there's also a time when it's a big 'ol electronic Yeti... if that's true, I have no idea. :rotfl: I've never seen it.

You should go on the ride. Just be prepared to do what's in your best interest. :thumbsup2

Hmmmm.....Dinosaur. Did it once, didn't really see a thing...DD (7) and I sat hunched over with our eyes shut, her head buried in my side. The only ride DD says she doesn't like. Not our kind of ride, really. Not doing it again. Can't make me! :)

Everest? Awesome! :thumbsup2 The Yeti isn't really a factor...he's more scenery than "in your face". This ride is great, don't miss it!

OMG....that is exactly what I do :rotfl2:

I remember going on Haunted Mansion for the first time, took me 2-3 times to keep my eyes open the whole ride to see everything, I am definetly not a "dark ride" person that's for sure. I only know about the Huge Dinosaur at the end of the ride because people tell me about it, don't wish to see it either. I agree it's the popping noises and loud roars on the ride that just freaks me out, yeah I know that there isn't actually a huge dinosaur that's going to eat me........you should have seen me on Alien Encounter, whew went on that 1 time and almost died!!!!

I watched the movie of EE but i still have one question... i couldnt really tell in the movie if there were any BIG drops going forward??? I can probably handle the backwards one because my back will have something to lean on, but going forward freaks me out.... are there any really big forward drops on EE????

And while we are on the subject of roller coasters, how about rock n' roller coaster at MGM?!? I want to ride that like no other to prove to my friend that i can be "brave" at WDW, lol... i know that goes upside down, but i dont care about that since there are things that go over my shoulders to keep me in... but like other roller coasters, it's the drops that kill me.

We did Dinosaur in January( which I love ) and the dinosaur was not in the dark jumping out at you the way it used to. It always got me in the past :rotfl2: . Now it really didn't scare me. I could see it coming so the suprise wasen't there :sad2: . Tina

epfootballcutie04: I've been on RnRC many times and I'm a 44 year old roller coaster wimp!!! :guilty: I can ride it because there's no big drop. The worst part is the fast take-off, but it's over so quick and the rest of the ride is just fun.

I don't like the drop on Splash but have to do it otherwise I'd miss that great scenery/music - just plain fun of Brer Rabbit.

Dinosaur is a piece of cake once you do it 2 or 3 times in a row!!! :thumbsup2

Can't do ToT anymore - just don't like heights.

EE - I'm game and ready for it come August!!!
