Scared & need your thoughts -DD is getting notes

Have you spoken to the trustee about the behaviour of the Principal?

Ah, but MANY kids are diagnosed with BEHAVIORAL DISORDERS -- not academic disorders. So a kid who's labeled BEH, Willie M., or something simliar "can't help himself" from acting out against other kids. (I don't believe that myself -- I'm just telling you what the law says). As such, punishing him for behavioral problems is tricky.

NO KIDDING!!! Way back when I was just out of college and subbing in the schools I had a class that had one boy that had one of these "labels". We were about 2 minutes into class and I had told him to sit down and be quite several times already. He stood back up and started swearing at me. I sent him to the office not knowing I couldn't kick him out of class. The principal came in and told me this. I told the principal that you are not paying me enough to put up with a kid like this and either I go or the kid goes. He did put the kid in the LD resource room. After the principal left the kids all started clapping. They were sick and tired of that kid disrupting every class!

Tantor--I think you need to contact a lawyer and have the lawyer send a letter to the school and specifically the principal about how they are not dealing with this and if things don't change you will file charges. Even if the principal is leaving, she is still responsible for what is going on now. I am assuming Canada has some kind of laws against harassment, I know in the US they do. Schools and businesses can get into pretty big trouble here for not dealing with harassment cases (and your situation is beyond harassment).

Are you any closer to finding out who did this.....my prayers are with you and yoru family.

No news yet. I spend all week last week in the school watching the halls.
Superintendent said they had no resources to put a camera in the school. They just spend $50,000 for the Peel School Board to chage there logo but no money is avavilable to keep kids safe. Pretty sad.
Had the police in on Friday (in uniform) to do a bully session with the kids. She came right out and mentioned the notes and how if anyone knew this was going on they would be just as much to blame.

Well that's something. I hope this gets cleared up soon. P & PD

Maybe this is a small step in the right direction. Have any more notes come lately? It occurs to me that it would stop when there is attention called to it.

I just wanted to post something about cameras in schools. Our school has them all over the place, and it didn't stop two people from coming into our school, signing in as parents (they weren't) and then went to the classrooms that were empty and stole several teacher's wallets! It's all on camera, and they still got away. I'm a little freaked out by it, what if they wanted to take a kid instead of wallets, but I'm thinking that while it was really bad that it happened, everybody's really on alert now to make sure that whoever comes into our school is supposed to be there.

The OP sounds like she's doing her personal best to protect her kid, and that's all we can really do. I'm in our school all the time, too, just because they always need volunteers and it's good to feel like you're close to your kids, even if they don't know you're there....

Still thinking of you and your DD and hoping things are settling down. Sounds like the police are on top of things, especially if they came to school in uniform and talked to the kids. I just had jury duty last week and we discussed at length the theory of being an accomplice if you KNOW that something is going on and you choose to say nothing, in effect aiding the criminal.

I'm still keeping your DD and your entire family in my prayers.

Was thinking about your daughter today and wanted to check in to see how it's going. Hopefully, no more notes and the culprit caught.

Well, there hasn't been any notes for over a week. The police came in and did a bully session with the gr 3 and 4's. She came right out and mentioned the notes and how it was making the ones getting the notes feel. She was very effective. I really liked her (she's a mom too and after talking to me the other day it changed her delivery)
We are still going up the ladder trying to get something done to catch this kid. The principal is moving on to another school and say's there's nothing they can do.
We shall see what happens. I have been in the school everyday up until today but I need to take some time today and tomorrow to get stuff done for X'mas.
Thanks again to those who have been PM me. Means alot.

Perhaps all the attention has made the note leaver a bit nervous, so it's not surprising that they would "back off" a bit now. Actually the holiday vacation time might actually help too if it's a student. I still think it might be an older student. I guess I would still pop in on unexpected days to "volunteer". Just make sure you speak to the new Principal right away and make them aware of what was and was not done prior to them arriving.

I do plan on popping in once in a while. The vice Principal has been promoteed to Principal. She is very theorough and quite nice. I think she had her hands tied before having to *go along* with the Other princiapl. We'll see.

I just spent over an hour reading though all of these posts. How terrifying. Is there any more news?

I am wondering if, when the police got involved and gave the official "talking to", if the news then went home and someone's parent found out someone at their house was doing this and that is why the notes have stopped! I just feel very strongly that kids that do this type of thing don't stop unless they are found out and are made to stop.... :confused3

As a parent....I truly hope the kid(s) is/are found because someone needs to be punished for this! This is a terrible thing to do to a child and someone must be held accountable!! :guilty:

If you are having a seasonal break now.....hopefully it will be a good one and a true time of renewal for your family! :wizard:

Just curious....did you find out who was leaving the notes?

I just thought I was WAY behind here & everyone knew the answer to who was leaving the notes - but I see that's not true...(which is good since I'm always behind!)

SO TANTOR - ANy news at all?!?!?

There was another thread in which she said that the kid confessed to doing it. So all is well.
