I'm doing a half on Saturday. It will be my 2nd half, and the 1st one I'm doing by myself. I was supposed to walk it with a friend, but she couldn't find childcare, so she had to back out... and I'm left all alone.

I don't want to waste my entry fee, and I kinda think the shirt is cute but wouldn't feel right about wearing it unless I "earned" it (by finishing the race).

I was planning on walking this all along, but now that I'm doing it by myself, I'm NERVOUS! Nervous that I'll get injured, nervous that I'll try to run too much and wear myself out, worried that I'll give up, worried that those sweepers will be chasing me, worried that those sweep busses will look too darn tempting...

Our plan was to walk this one, as we just started "real" (regimented) training this week for Marathon weekend's half. We did one (my friend who backed out and I) in the spring, and it was fine, although I really didn't notice the distance because we were chatting away the whole time. I'm really going to miss that this time :worried:

What did I get myself into?!?! (Thanks for listening to me worry to myself!)

I can do it, I can do it, I can do it... right???

Of course you can do it! You did all the training so you'll definitely be able to finish! Don't think about the sweepers - just concentrate on staying strong and getting to the finish. Keep your chin up and think of how good you'll feel at the end of the race when you'll be able to say "I did it!" :)

Get to your corral early and chat with a few people around you. I find that it's great for shaking off the nervous energy and who knows, you might find someone to walk with! Good luck on Saturday! Come back and let us know how the race went!

You can do it!! Once you get in the grove it will be a piece of cake!

Remember, all the people there are there for the same reason.. the love of running... enjoy it!!

You can do it! And, you've already got one under your belt.

Stay positive!

I always run events by myself- its a really fun and great place to meet other people- nothing like bonding in the porta potty lines!

YOU CAN DO IT!! I have run most of my races "solo" and you will have plenty of conversation going on all around you to keep you entertained.

You can do it... but I know how you feel. I am doing the WDW 1/2 and my friend that I usually race with isn't coming just DH and I. He is much faster. I am very nervous about being solo.

You Go Girl :yay:

I DID IT! :cool1:

The race was black flagged (no official timing, continue at your own risk) when I was at mile 10. I was only 3 away, so I just kept going! By the time I was done and I got to my car, the thermometer in my car said 97º!

It went ok. I listened to music some, talked to people around me for a few miles... Can't wait for my next race! :goodvibes

Jhennifer,

Congrats on your race. You should be proud and you have gained a degree of mental toughness which, after all, is the biggest thing when it comes to races.
