To all of you experts with computers :surfweb: because I am sooooo far from that....:guilty:

Every time I turn on my computer this box pops up and says "Installing ScanSoft PaperPort 11"....I hit cancel and it pops back up and I hit cancel and it pops back up and I have to do this like 5 times before it eventually stops poping back up......... :headache: :headache: :headache:

What is ScanSoft PaperPort 11, has anyone ever heard of that?? :headache: This has been going on for months and it is soooo annoying. :headache:

Thanks! :goodvibes

I have that program - I use it for scanning forms to fill out on my computer (haven't had a typewriter around in ages) and to make pdf's.

I have no ideas why it would be doing that to you - if you don't use or need it, can you uninstall it on your computer?

Sounds like your computer might be infected with grayware or adware. Even though yours sounds fairly benign, it still is unwanted and obnoxious. Does your security program come with a system-sweep or scan? I *think* you need to scan your system and delete the unneeded program.

I did Google your terms and ScanSoft is a legitimate program, BUT this pop-up could be an impersonator. Have you recently installed any new software or is this perhaps a new computer with out of date or incompletely installed software?

Good luck.

OK, so you think this was a program that was installed on my computer?? Hmmm...I will have to ask my DH when he gets home from work.

Another "dumb" ?...how would I uninstall it?

I do have an awesome security program = "Verizon Internet Security Suite".

My computer is 2003...so 5 years old. We recently installed TWO new printer/scanners.

IF it's a legit program, you'd probably need the Install CD-Rom it came on.

BUT it might be adware/malware/grayware, which are sometimes very bad bits of unfriendly programs your system can get infected with from websites you've visited or e-mails you've gotten.

You need to take a look at the manuals (ugh) that came with the printers/scanners. The program that runs the new printer/scanners probably hasn't been completely installed.

Hmmm, maybe that is what it is??? But why would that happen? I have been using one of the printers/scanners with no problem. :confused3

Agnes, I appreciate all your respones on this issue....it is just one big annoyance....:sad2:

Could one use their printer with no problems yet the program is not completely installed?

It is scanning software - we have it at work but recently had to deinstall because it causes problems with Office 2007.

But it could be malware that is acting like a legit program.

Go to your control panel, select "add or remove programs" and if you see the Scansoft software there, click to deinstall it.
