SCAL and Inkscape are giving us trouble...

And none of the tutorials seem to be helping. I've designed a little image in Inkscape (after much crashing), but now, after I've saved it, it won't open in SCAL. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, does anyone have either a link or a link to a thread with a tutorial that really explains how to use these? They seem to not be able to do anything... but I know other people make really cool things with them.

I've only used the tutorials mentioned previously here on the DIS, which probably are the ones you tried, but just off the bat - are you "opening" the image in SCAL or "importing" it? For SVG files you should be importing them.

I got her image to cut - she must have been trying to "open" - it worked for me just fine as an "import." She's now crashed out on the sofa (we were up really late last night watching "Bridget Jones's Diary!") and will be happy to see this when she wakes up.

Do you (or does anyone else?) remember the recent Dis thread which listed so many of the helpful SCAL tutorials? I remember stumbling across this a few weeks ago, as I think the thread was actually titled something else, then it evolved into a terrific list of great SCAL resources.

We finally got to install and play around with our SCAL today after getting it on Mother's Day. It's been nutty!
