SB: Which Type of Album and Why?

CM pages are actually 10x12. The albums are 12x12 though. (CM's colored cardstock that they sell (or sold) was 10x12.) I used to use CM prior to discovering Close To My Heart.

Several of my scrapbuddies still use CM albums because they bought extra. They usually have to trim their 12x12 paper down to fit within the edges of the CM pages. But use the Westrim page protectors as often as they can.

As for Westrim page protectors, I've seen them at my LSS, but you can find them online at various sites.

I've used it all! LOL! I've got 8.5x11, 12.12, 10.5x11, top loading, side loading, strap hinge, post bound, 3-ring, etc etc etc! What I like best is the 12x12 strap hinge with top loading PP's. (basically the PP has the metal hasps and the pages slip through into them) I don't work in order either, but I *rarely* use white backgrounds, so I wallpaper. It's sort of the same to me as my 3-ring binder, especially with the top-loading PPs.

The albums I have used have changed with time, experience and finding a cool album (my 10.5x11 is an Ann Geddes baby album that is post bound and I had to have because I bought it during a "baby hormone induced shopping spree") :teeth:

I really like using the 12x12 format for my Disney albums though because I can get more on the pages. Also, 12x12 is starting to become the industry standard. YOu are finding many companies that are only making 12x12 products and then giving you instructions for how to make them work in a 8.5x11 album, which never look right after cutting them down.

:earsgirl:

I've only been scrapbooking for about a year and used various 12x12 albums. Then I was introduced to CM product and am hooked. The albums to me are WONDERFUL. I don't have to use a whole sheet for a background and then more cardstock behind the pictures. You actually still can if you want, but now my pages are more simple. but get many compliments.

I've also saved TONS of money. I love the CM products, but I still use other brands of paper and stickers to get a better variety. I'm not a die-hard (one that uses only CM products) either. Eventually, I thought about selling CM on the side.

Why not have the fun and make some $$ too. I have a 3-year-old little girl and love staying home with her. This would give me the opportunity to continue to be home and do some work while she is in nursery school and thus, making some money on the side.

Hope all these responses help with your decision. For me personally, wish I was introduced to CM first. Now I want to redo some albums so they are all the same brand. I prefer them better.

CM album pages are 11 3/4 x 12. I "wall-paper" most every page or use the toploading Westrim (which I buy at Michaels or AC Moore whichever has a sale or a coupon). CM sells 10 x 12 photo mounting paper. It does NOT cover the entire page as CM encourages not wall-papering - hey I'm a rebel ;) ! I am very pleased with the system I've come up with and I like that I've been able to keep the albums I love, but alter the system so to speak. Have fun deciding.
