SB: Book About Me

Please read Tony d"Angelo's Story It will give you a new insight into why you should be doing a Book About Me. I have a few pages started. I recently went back to my birth place and took photos of the house and neighborhood where I live when I was born. My mother is not interested in scrapping so I am trying to collect her stories.

I know you are saying you don't have the time and are trying to get caught up . Your children will have time to scrap their own lives if you don't get it finished. You may not have much time to talk to your parents or your grandparents.

I keep telling my mom to write her silly stories down...she won't so now I get the camcorder out and tape her when she starts talking about great grandma....
I also keep bugging my FIL he was in WWII and was under Patton and fought in the battle of the bulge he has a ton of pictures and metals. I told him I would scrap all of it for him. He just has to tell me who, what where and why. Of course he says he would like too but doesn't!
He has about 8 metals framed but we have no idea what they are for I said PLEASE at least write on the back what they are.
So I make sure I write lots down! Funny things the kids say and I have even started having more pictures of me! I hate to have my pictures taken but know years down the road it will be important!

Hmm, funny you mention this...I have been trying to scrap my Mom and Grandmothers lives for awhile now...not so much in pictures, but words...A few years ago, I could go to my grandmother and ask her anything and she was sharp, she knew everything...of course, now it is much harder and I think she is getting a bit of Alzheimer's (sp?) as whenever we go over, she cannot remember anything current (like my 3 year olds name), but she can recall stories about her being a child and stuff like that...I have all her stories wrote down and now I have to get a picture of the house my Mom grew up in before they tear it down...they have already torn down the one my Grandmother used to live in

I couldn't agree more with you about this...I think this is so important, well to me anyway!

Thanks for sharing the link Chessie, just goes to show how very important it is to record those memories!! Journalling can be hard but it is so important-years from now we will want to know who those people were in the phots,what they were doing,what they were like ect!
