Say it ain’t so. Now Matt Lauer

Hopefully there is a clause that null and voids the contract for inappropriate behavior. But I doubt Matt would of signed it if it had something in the contract like that.

There are a lot of pro athlete contracts that include a "morals clause" but I've barely heard of them being enforced.

I'd think NBC would probably just eat the rest of his contract rather than fight over it.

Fox was criticized for paying off Roger Ailes and Bill Riley, so I would imagine NBC will quietly negotiate a settlement, but not just roll over and play dead.

I couldn’t care less who reads the news to me in the morning; s/he only has to speak clearly. “Celebrity” is one of the shallowest concepts in the world.
Anchors at major networks don't just read the news. They have a lot of control about WHICH news is read, where the focus is, etc. They steer the narrative to a decent extent.

If the allegations are true, and I have no reason to believe they're not, you have to wonder what was on his mind as he conducted interviews with others with the same allegations. Bill O'Reilly comes to mind. Was Matt Lauer thinking "Am I next? How much longer do I have before XX (fill in the blank) blows the whistle? Should I strike a pre-emptive blow and confess before I'm outed?"

I think these guys generally believe the **** they spew when they talk about being stunned at the allegations because so and so is such a good guy. I believe they’re so detached from reality that they don’t even fathom they will face any repercussions. Half the time they don’t even believe they did anything wrong (which is honestly the most terrifying part).
