Ok, maybe I am not sure about this since I am not a parent... today, we went to have lunch at the new Cheesecake Factory in our area. We got there early (about 5 mins before it opened). While we were waiting, a young mother came up with a baby/toddler girl. Anyway, I guess she needed a diaper change. The lady proceeded to change the girl's diaper outside ... in the COLD (there is still snow on the ground from our most recent snow ... 30 degrees today!). Now, the restaurant is outside of a HUGE shopping mall. So, if indeed she couldn't wait 5 mins for the place to open, she could have atleast taken the child inside the mall to change it ... even on a bench inside wouldn't have bothered me ... it was just the COLD facts that disturbed me ... am I just being wierd b/c I am not a parent yet?

By the way, the Cheesecake Factory was DIVINE!!!! Very excellente! Never been to one before, so we didn't know what to expect! REALLY, really yummy!

I agree with you that the mother could have at least taken that child inside. Heck if it came down to it she could have changed her in the car. Some people never cease to amaze me!

I would have waited the 5 minutes...but then again I knew someone who fed their DD her formula ice cold every time! I have a 60 degree threshold for cold.....so maybe I am not the norm on this one. I wonder if the mom would've liked to be in a bathing suit for the same amount of time in 30 degree temps!

That poor baby! Babies can suffer hypothemia is less time than it takes to change a diaper. I am surprised no one spoke up, just point out that the mall was open, and would be much warmer for the baby. That woman just must not have a clue.

Some people have no common sense! I'm sure she would have been real defensive too if someone had suggested she hike it to the mall to change baby. I don't understand why she couldn't wait the 5 minutes though? Or who knows how long that baby may have been in that soiled diaper??!!

Regarding CheeseCake Factory....I miss their food! We used to frequent the CheeseCake Factory in Beverly Hills & at Marina del Rey when we lived in California. Their food was so good & their portions so huge, we never got to order the cheesecake for desert (unless we went specifically for coffee & cake). Their pasta dishes were wonderful too! We were so thrilled to see that they opened one in Vegas ~ it was one of the first places we ate it while there! Hmmmm.....I'm getting hungry!

Cold, wet, and bare bottomed! That mother clearly used poor judgement to say the least. It's really hard for me to believe anyone would do that in less than an emergency.
