DH and I have both read the book so we both knew the main plot points. Discussing it afterwards, he thinks that if you haven't read the book that parts of the movie will be vague. I have to watch a movie with that in mind to notice so I didn't notice many things that gave me an " oh - someone who hasn't read the book won't understand that " reaction.

Has anyone seen the movie without reading the book first? Were there confusing parts to you?

I went with a group of friends and a few husbands came along. The women had all read the book, the men had not. The men all were in agreement that there were some gray areas in the movie that made more sense after we explained it in full from the book.

Saw the movie this past Saturday with DW. She had not read the book, enjoyed the movie and did not feel there were gray area.

I had read the book and thought the movie was "ok", but missed a lot of the details.

I had read the book and had a hard time following it! DSis and Dh hadn't and both of them were completely lost. They really dropped the ball on the movie. It could have been a real thriller.
