Saw Clay Aiken Last Night

For all you "Claymates" out there, I saw Clay and Kelly last night in Philly. They put on a good show. And I always knew Clay had an amazing voice, but live it's so powerful. Even my father was impressed (yes, he came with us out of his own free will).

I don't want to write anymore, just wanted to let you all know you are in for a great show.

Brandie, I am very lucky!!! In a 2 month period there are 4 concerts on my schedule (one I already went to a few weeks ago... Enrique Iglesias). They are all week nights here, but none of the concerts are more than 10 miles away so it is no big deal! Too bad he isn't going to Indy or you couldn't come here for it!

Did you all hear his biological father passed away? He didn't go to the funeral. I have no idea what is up between him and his bio father but he is probably hurting regardless of their relationship. I heard that on the radio yesterday, poor guy.

elaine...i had thought about hitting the columbus concert...but again, weeknight. blech. there's a conspiracy i tell ya! i do have a friend going to the DC concert on friday. she's going to call me on her cell phone so i can hear the show! i guess there's been a lot of people doing that...clay's even been talking to people on the cell phones! my friend will be in the 2nd row...i'm crossing my fingers that he picks her phone to talk to!!

bridget...he's had a very strained relationship with his bio father. he was an abusive man and didn't seem to put forth the effort for a relationship between the two. clay's often called him his "sperm donor"...he changed his name to avoid sharing the man's family name. his name used to be clayton grissom. he changed it to aiken, which i believe is his mother's maiden name...i think...i could be wrong on that one...

The theater was Temple University's basketball arena. So I'm not sure how big it was. I don't think it was completely sold out but the arena looked pretty full.

We lucked out with our tickets, too. We didn't get tickets until last Thursday and we were 6 rows to the side of the stage. I had been searching E-Bay and then my father decided to check Ticketmaster one last time, and these great seats were available. We had a perfect view!

You are right on. He explained a lot about his relationship (or lack, thereof) with his bio father in the Rolling Stone article a while back. I wish I could have seen the concert...Kelly and Clay are both VERY talented, and I enjoy listening to both of them sing. At least I got to see him at the American Idol Tour...5th row! Yeah baby!

Glad you enjoyed the show. They are coming to Vegas soon and I'm thinking of going. Reuben's show here was canceled due to low ticket sales. I can understand that. I don't think Reuben would be able to pull off a show all by himself. Clay and Kelly were smart to do it together.

I'm glad you posted...I would love to see that kid perform live and I was curious to hear from those that did.

How so? I didn't notice anything, but I'm interested in knowing why you ask the question. I did notice some very close dancing between him and one of the backup singers but not much else.

And it was clear last night that he was robbed. Most of the crowd was there to see him. Can you believe he got cut in NC the first season and one of the girls who is now his backup singer made it? Weird how things work out. But that girl had an amazing voice as well.

Some reviewer from Raleigh said Clay butchered Prince's "when doves cry" and then began to act in a lewd manner by thrusting himself into the female dancer.

Now, I've watched the videos and if there is any thrusting, I think the reviewer might need to have his eyes checked or talk to his dad about the birds and the bees. LOL

Clay doens't appear to me to be the type who would do something like that in the first place. I don't know what that reviewer was thinking.

Like I said he was close dancing, but was in no way lewd. I think some people are a little uptight. Also, last night he did a great version of "When Doves Cry". Who is this reviewer?

My guess is just that they guy didn't want to be there in the first place and wanted to try to find something bad on Clay. I don't have a clue who it was, but I can try to get all the info for you if you'd like.

Nah, that's all right. I think there always has to be someone out there who can't just enjoy the concert. Everyone has their opinions, I guess.
