Oh, it's not just the young "punks" of today. I recall mowing the lawn one day when I was about 20. Got hot and stopped to take off my sweatshirt, but my tank top underneath also came off!!!!! The creepy neighbor guy about fell off his lawn chair! I quickly fixed the situation and walked casually into the house while trying to act casual. I was MORTIFIED! I wore bra's under my tank when mowing the lawn after that.
Seeing guys in baggy pants with their boxers showing isn't a big deal for me any more since I went to school with it. But once while waiting with my brother at a Chinese place, a man came in and while he was ordering his pants slid down slightly revealing that he wasn't wearing underwear! I don't want to see some strange man's bare *** right before I'm going to eat.
DD12 and I were at the car wash this afternoon and had to wait a bit. I was lloking around and apparently kept looking at the 2 workers whos boxer kept showing above their jeans. I think I mortified DD12 because she kept telling me to stop looking!
She also said the same thing about this trend was started by convicts, but she didn't know why(or wasn't saying)but did say it was long time ago ones like Al Capone. She also told me that at her school if guys are wearing their pants like that , they have to wear suspenders! She hasn't seen any wearing them though!

I can't believe it is still popular either. I have been teaching 12 years and it seems like I have always been fighting this. It is kind of bad when the pregnant teacher can beat you up the stairs because you have to press your knees together to get up the stairs!
The girls say they don't like it but the boys keep doing it.
Well, they might be getting smarter...if not better dressed.
DS15 and I were in the store a few weeks ago. A mom came in with her son who had his pants WAY low -- almost below the butt -- but they were secured tightly by a belt and his boxer briefs -- almost ALL of them -- were proudly displayed. I guess that's the best of both worlds for them?
I wonder if it's a comfort thing? Are there any guys out there who can fill us in? My DS wears his pants down low, but straps in with a real tight belt. Boxers stick out, but you can't see because he always has a long tshirt on. So it's not necessarily a fashion thing for him.
In defense of the boys - I'd rather see their cutie pie boxers sticking out than some old guy's crack. And girls...and women alike....we have faaaaar more offensive fashion trends. How dumb are heels? How comfortable are super tight shirts/pants? Nylons, slips, girdles....we're pioneers in doing stupid things in the name of fashion.
President Jimmy Carter's home town of Plains Ga is trying to get this fashion statement banned. THere was an article in the paper her earlier this week about them working on getting a law written to ban the pants worn that way.
