We are planning on building a lightsaber for one of my kids as a bday present, I'm sure he's going to enjoy carrying it around for all of 20 minutes before it becomes my problem 🤣

Will it be possible to have it held at guest services; similar to package pickup precovid? If not, I'll probably take a bus to our resort to drop it off and come back. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

There are lockers that can be rented at the front of the park. I believe someone will be able to comment here if a light saber fits in the larger park lockers.

We take a mid afternoon break for swimming and such on most park days. I scheduled my light saber build mid afternoon so we were all headed back to the resort after the build. It worked out well.

That was my first thought, maybe the locker can fit it, but I couldn't remember how big they were

Savi’s blade is 31” long. I believe the largest lockers at HS are something like 17” or 18” tall, so even if you remove the blade from the hilt, it won’t fit in a locker. (Maybe they have bigger lockers now, as I haven’t used one for quite a few years, but they would need to be quite a bit larger than I remember.)

When you build the saber, they will give you a carrying pouch that can be slung over your back to carry it around more easily. It is still a pain to deal with so going on rides and such is out of the question unless you can leave it with a non-riding party member.

Echoing the other comments, try to plan your time slot either very late in the day or just before you will be leaving for a meal or break so that it can be left in your room.

Just a more general comment about the experience, it is pretty cool but felt a bit rushed to me. The quality of the saber is decent, but I feel like the movie replicas available at Dok-Ondars Den of Antiquities are higher quality and lower cost compared to build your own. So, know that what you are really buying is the experience of building it yourself and the short associated ceremony, and if that isn’t as important for you/him, consider buying a replica from the shop instead.

If you are flying to WDW and don’t want to go with the shipping it from the park option, also consider how you will get it back home. Some airlines are more lenient than others or have different configurations where the constructed saber with blade attached may not fit into an overhead bin or may not be allowed.
