to save room in my suitcase I was thinking of packing and shipping all of our toiletries and snacks to the resort via the USPS ahead of time OR packing them all in a smaller suitcase and checking it in at the airport with my larger suitcase. Either way would cost me money but my fear is if I mail the package and it gets lost I have to buy everything again when I get there. what would you do? thanks

I know that they have to store it all until you get there. When we were going through the lobby, there were some ladies who had literally shipped EVERYTHING to their resort (down to the alarm clock) and the cast member said that their items had taken up alot of stoarage area - they literally filled two carts

So I would say if you HAVE to have it - you get 1 baggie per person - get travel sized items and take them with you in your carry on and then use those baggies to put the disney shampoos in to bring home

I would pack everything and take it with you. I, too, would be nervous about it not arriving. If you pack snacks and then eat them, that will automatically create space in the suitcase coming home as you won't be bringing back the snacks you consumed!

Other ideas - I always pack a collapsible bag in my suitcase which I then fill with our purchases and either carry-on or check on our way home.

I've also packed half of the amount of clothes I've needed for the trip and then did laundry half way through.

Go over your packing list again and reconsider how much you are bringing with you. Unless you're staying for a month, there's no need for each person to bring full size toiletries. Use what the hotels provide. Buy some travel sizes. Do laundry once during your stay and cut your wardrobe in half.

I just got back from a 3 week vacation and managed with one checked suitcase and a carry on bag.

we are staying for 9 days and the products I need are not the one's my grandson needs. I too thought of doing laundry during the trip, just trying to figure where to fit that in...LOL thanks for all the feedback

Do you have Amazon prime? I would order it all from Amazon and ship it there. Even if you don't have prime, and have to pay for shipping, I'm sure it's cheaper than checking an extra bag or paying postage. Order everything at once and it should come in one box so it won't take up too much storage space

Try using a vacuum sealer to free space that'd be taken over by clothing

Or you can do the trial of Prime when you go if you haven't done it already.

We just pack a second suitcase of food/ snacks. That frees up room for souvenirs on the way home. Typically, we fly Southwest, so it's cheaper to pack the 2nd bag than to ship...at least by USPS.

It can be difficult timing a package right. We figured we would have to leave 8 business days to ship a flat rate box USPS. The package goes all over the place and does not move on weekends once in Disney hands.

I would take another suitcase, then you will end up with room for what you buy. We took home one more suitcase than we came with. That was planned from the start, but we definitely needed it! We stayed one night before and after at my parents winter home in FL and brought one of their large suitcases home with us. This fixed our additional cargo space need and helped them out by getting it home. They have the car instead of the van this year so not as much space for bringing things home.

After all is said and done with buying the items and shipping or baggage charges are you going to save that much on snacks?

Not all of us can use hotel products on our hair or skin...I have to bring specific brands. But I do agree about the clothes. I never end up using everything I pack! And for longer trips, it's easier to just do laundry halfway through your trip than it is to worry about luggage space and weight.

We pack as little as possible. When we used to fly, we would pack our smaller suitcase inside a bigger empty suitcase, which gives us an entire empty suitcase to fill for the way home.

My DD always packs a box and sends it down. We stated that right after the shoe bomber thing and I was taking my DGD 6 days later. All of a sudden no liquids on the plane! I had to bring certain things in my carry on for her, so we just sent them ahead. They were there in two days, and we had confirmation that they arrived. Get a flat rate box and you will be fine.

I'm thinking you won't have a car? At all cost we try not to check luggage. That said I'd pay for the extra suitcase and pach the toiletries and snacks in that suitcase! I just came back from Disney and was able to pack 4 you were there mugs from Starbucks between my tote bag and carry on. Now if you have full size toiletries you would definitely have to check!

I'm not sure on the age of your grandson so I'm not sure if you are planning for him to have his own suitcase, or if you are going to have everything in your suitcase. If he has his own, then I would probably just pack a little bag of personal items in each suitcase. If you're both planning to pack in one suitcase, then perhaps consider a second one of just personal items. He would get one free checked bag (I think they still do one each, right?). You could also consider a carry-on to pack any personal items that are of travel size (medication, soap, inhaler, travel size toiletries) to free up space in the checked bags.

In the past, I have taken my small carry on suitcase and packed it inside my big suitcase with stuff packed inside it and around it. Then for my trip home I had a carry on to put the stuff I bought in it
