OK..my dh and I have had Allstate since we got married over 11 years ago for both our home and auto insurance and it keeps going up EVERY 6 months. This time it jumped 60.00!!! Now...we don't have acccidents, both have good driving history etc..

In my effort to trim out some monthly bills, I did some pricing online and I found that Progressive had a comparable policy (same limits/deductables etc..) for almost $400 less per 6 months. Our current policy is 960.00 for 6 months, Progressives online quote was 583.00. That's a substantial savings!

However, I'm a bit nervous because we've been with Allstate for so long.

Have any of you used Progressive before? Will they come through if there's a problem?

Just make sure your coverage is the same (I see you have) and you disclosed ALL information such as household drivers, tickets, accidents. We had a lady leave us (State Farm) for Progressive due to money issues but she was less than honest with them in some issues and Progessive found out and raised her rates. She called about coming back to us, but she no longer qualifies. We have a couple of Progressive adjusters insured with us and they seem like nice fellows to deal with.

I had Progressive years ago. I was involved in an accident and I didn't have one issue with them at all as far as claims. I don't have them anymore because I got a better rate elsewhere but I had no complaints.

I just priced out new car insurance as well. We had been with our old company for over 10 years, but were also looking to see if we could save any. I priced out Progressive and Geico. Both were cheaper than my old insurance, Progressive by 25% and Geico by 50%. Needless to say we chose Geico. Exact same coverage we had before, but now at half the cost! Definitely worth checking around!

I moved both my house and car to Progressive about a year ago. They were significantly cheaper. Years ago, I was hit by someone with Progressive and they were the easiest insurance company I have ever dealt with and super helpful.

I have had Progressive for almost five years and I really like them. I have filed a couple of claims in that time and they were great both times. Both claims were handled very quickly. Whenever I need to call them for any reason, they are always friendly and helpful on the phone. Also, I think their rates are pretty competitive overall. Highly recommended :thumbsup2

I'm having the same problem with Geico. They've raised our rates 20-50 dollars the last 3 times we've renewed. I've been with them for 5 years.

Progressive quoted us a pretty decent deal so I may have to take another look. I also found a good rate through esurance but not a lot of reviews on them.

When State Farm upped my rates after an accident, my husband and I combined our policies with Progressive (who didn't care about my accident/claim since I wasn't ticketed.)

Less than a month after that, I was rearended at an intersection - the light had turned green, but the car in front of me was turning right, and waiting for pedestrians to cross. The car behind me saw green, hit the gas, and plowed directly into the back of me.

Progressive was AWESOME. I used their concierge claim service - I drove to an office, they looked at the car, gave me a free loaner and sent me on my way. They took care of getting it to a body shop and getting it fixed. Ten days later I dropped off the loaner and picked up my car, which had been washed and vacuumed as well as all the repairs.

That was over a year ago - we've renewed our 6 month policy twice since then, and our rates have not gone up. I had State Farm for over ten years but I am a Progressive convert now!

Since you were not at fault in the rear-ended accident, the other person's insurance would have been responsible for handling your claim. Progressive must have gotten reimbursed by them.

Insurance in Michigan is different than in other states. Your own insurance handles your repairs, regardless of fault.

I switched to Progressive a couple years ago from AllState. I liked AllState as long as I dealt with their main 800# people instead of my agent. They went up about $60 on my policy only saying something about a new insurance law so I paid it for a couple months then called them about something else & discovered that I could 'opt' out of the coverage they just increased my bill for!!!! Coulda told me that upfront before I paid a couple months on it. Last straw was when I discovered that in all the years I had been with them my agent never turned in my defensive driving certification to them. We had discussed that in length when I took out my policy and dumb me thought I was getting the discount all this time.

We have had Progressive for 13 years. We love them. We have had wrecks that were at fault and not at fault and Progressive was always reliable and helpful through the process. We have tried pricing other places from time to time and have never found anyone even close to the rates we get with them. Very very happy Progressive customers.

We had allstate for approx: 15 years then switched to geico because of price. Then geico kept raising our rates so this past spring we switched home and auto to progressive for around $500/year less. Also signed up for their snapshot program and found out based on our driving we will be saving another 16%. Love progressive. Especially if you are a safe, responsible driver. Highly recommended.:thumbsup2

Thanks for explaining that. It's different here in Maryland.

We have been with State Farm for many years. We get multicar discounts, safe driver discounts, no drivers under 25, and so on as well as discounts for having our liability umbrella and homeowners' policies and some life insurance with them. It can also cost less to pay once per year rather than twice per year or monthly.

We have Progressive. Only had it about 6 months. We switch all the time with who can give us the lowest rate. Anyway, I recently had just a small glass claim with them. I did an online claim after hours one night and they had someone at my house and had the windshield fixed by noon the next day. It was really incredible!

I've had Progressive for a good long time now -- 9 years this week, I think. I've always been quite pleased with them, including in a major accident (my fault -- well, weather's fault, but I was the drier :rotfl2:) about eighteen months ago. They took care of things promptly, including paying a more-than-fair value for my totaled vehicle and reimbursing me for all of the nanny kids' carseats that were no longer usable. The adjuster was awesome and came to my place of employ to bring paperwork and the check, despite the fact that I worked half an hour away and was more than happy to come to him.

My rates just dropped a good bit, too. :)
