Saving for disney while at college/university!

Hey i live in the UK and attended university think thats college for the americans? not sure

but how do you save for it at this age/with studying!!!

Well, I don't know about everyone else, but I worked my butt off in highschool and the summer before my first year of university with two jobs and did a lot of babysitting and just spent my whole four years of high school saving money! By the end of the summer before my first year of uni I had $10,000 saved as a nest egg, and had about $800 as spending + textbook money for school.

What hurt me though was that I didn't get a job during my freshman year at uni, and I burned through all my spending money. So I think one really good way to save it to get a job on campus (or if you have a car, you have a lot better options).

But I definitely think the best way to save up is to try to get a good summer job (or two! haha). Since I don't have to worry about classwork or organisation events I can spend more time working which leads to more money which leads to DISNEY.

Hey, I'm studying in the UK too, at Cardiff Uni.

It's really hard to save at uni in my opinion. I managed to have a part time job during my first and second years at uni, but the money I saved from this went towards buying a car, which was necessary for my course. And due to the nature of my course from the 3rd year onwards, its now impossible to get a part time job.

Also, money I saved went on rent and stuff too, because in my opinion the student loans aren't enough to cover basic living costs.

I'm currently looking for a summer job to save for a trip to WDW, but it's quite tricky to find something that temporary. Anyhow, enough of me moaning now lol...

If you can get scholarships through your university, that really helps. It doesn't even have to be like a full ride or something drastic like that. Even $100-$500 scholarships help to pay for books. Also at my university there's an orientation program for freshman, and if you volunteer to help with that you get a $100 book scholarship. If you could find programs like that it'll really defray your school costs which will allow for more money to save for Disney.

Also, if you go with friends you and share a hotel room that'll definitely lower the costs.

I've just finished my second year at uni, and I'm going to WDW in August. We're trying to travel as cheaply as possible, so that's made a bit of a difference. My boyfriend and I both work part time, and we live in the north east so living expenses are cheaper than they would be down south. Also, I get the maximum amount of student loan available (my mum is a student too so they don't count her income at all) and the difference in the amount that I receive compared with my boyfriend (whose parents are a nurse and a bus driver so they're not exactly rich) is insane. I've found that I can live completely comfortably on my student loan, and so the money from my job is going towards the holiday. I think for most people it's just a really unfair system, and I have a lot of respect for my boyfriend and for most other students who manage to have money left over from their loans after living expenses if their parents work.
