Sometime last year some genius on here (sorry can't remember who) said that they saved up their £2 coins for their holidays.

Well in October we started to do just that and having just counted the money up we have amassed just under £300 :woohoo:

We're not going back until September 2008 so it's looking good for extra spending pennies :goodvibes

I always save up £2 coins, and last year i had £350 worth which i used towards the villa payment!! This year I have had nearly £500 which i did the same with! I bought one of those large savings cans from BHS -so that i can't get into it unless i use the tin-opener!!:rotfl:
At the moment i have about £70 worth to use towards kennel fees
I think its a great way to save and it builds up quickly to!:woohoo:

I always save my £2 coins too, a habit my mum got me into a few years ago, it was probably me that said about it, my stash always pays for cattery fees and spendies for holidays. This year I've paid for my rocky mountaineer train trip and my SUV hire in canada with it as well as having enough put by for three weeks of cattery fees.

p.s. my mum also saves 20ps and 5ps too, its no wonder she's never got any cash on her :lmao:

Wow £300! I've only got about £70 so far and have been going at it for ages. Must admit I don't often use cash so that probably has something to do with it. I do also have another piggy bank for any loose change I find around the house and there's about £90 in it at the moment. Will pay for a new camera later this year :thumbsup2

I also have a little piggy bank full of silver, and a huge whisky bottle full of copper as well! no wonder i'm always skint!!:rotfl2:

A friend of ours does this too, and amazes us with the amount he's saved!

We never seem to get many £2 coins, but I think I'll have to start saving the ones I do get :thumbsup2

Same here Hilary, I never seen to get many, do you think there is a shortage of them in Wales;)

Well, I was about to put that in my post .. then I remembered that our friend who saves up so many of them also lives in Wales! Hmm, maybe that's where they've all gone ;)

Aha!! That explains it then;) :)

We are saving all our £2 for DD to go to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique next year. She has got quite cunning about getting £2 coins in change from ballet etc so there should be enough to get DS a nice treat too.

i save my coppers/ loose change in a jar and the spend it on the xmas food shopping :)

Well done on all your saving techniques:thumbsup2

We save smaller coins but i'm going to try to save the £2 coins now. At least it will save time counting! :lmao:

This sounds great, but all the one pound and two pound coins in our house get used for parking fees.

I'll have to save fivers instead!

I have just started saving ours, Ian has decided he wants a Christmas Tree whilst at WDW, so I am saving the £2 coins towards it, I dont think we'll have enough by the time we go, but it will be something towards it !

I don't save £2 coins, but I save 20p, 5p, 2p and 1p. and at the moment we around £100. I save them in little jars and every couple of months take all the change to coinstar at my local supermarket. When I have the change turned into notes I go and get them changed to dollars so that I can't spend any.

DH saves £2 coins in a can that i bought from BHS at Christmas with "Holiday Fund" written all over it!! We opened it up last weekend (you open it as you would a baked bean can) and there was £552 in it....that's well over $1000 !!
