We've all heard the rumors that they will remove the Carousel of Progress attraction ("It's a great big beautiful tomorrow...") to make room for a new attraction...perhaps they will make it a walk through attraction at Epcot. I haven't heard anything for sure. I for one would hate to see this attraction gone from Disney! Please post if you feel the same way!! Disney people keep on top of these boards; let's make our voices heard to save the Carousel of Progress - even if they move it to a different park. I think it would be great in Epcot - put it where the Universe of Energy stuff is.

If you love the Carousel of Progress, please post here!!!!

They did not spend all that money on a refurb to close it. You are the first 'rumor' I've heard that they might, so I'll assume you are wrong.

I heard that rumor too. I read it in the 2007 unofficial guide. He mentioned that they might replace it with an incredibles rollercoaster. I really hope that they don't because i totally love that ride and it reminds me of my grandpa.

Look at a Google Earth or any satellite map of Tomorrowland; there is no need to get rid of CoP, as there is a TON of empty/unused space as it is. Enough I might add to squeeze in 2-3 major attractions if they wish. Yes the rumor is printed in the Unofficial Guide, but I don't think it has much merit.

I've heard and read this many places now. But everything also says the pieces of it might be moved to Epcot somewhere as a walking tour.

While I do love it, I must admit, I've skipped it the last several times due to lack of time. . .

I've not heard anything about the CoP going anywhere.

I love the Unofficial Guide to WDW. The pages are very absorbent and soft, and flush easily.

Oh I hope they don't get rid of it! DH and I really enjoy it and are looking forward to going on it this July!

We had extra time this last trip (December, Christmas week) and tried CoP for the first time. We actually really liked it (DSis, 33, me, 27). I have it on our list to try again this time. The song is so catchy! Do you realize there's a little girl n the first scene that is never mentioned or seen again? Weird! And the dog has a different name in each scene - never thought about it, but I guess it makes sense that the dog really can't live through all those decades!

Anyways, a great ride that I'll be enjoying in just two short weeks! :)

I remember reading something about it being closed a couple years ago (on other fan sites IIRC). Then the rumor even showed up in the UOG. :scared1: I still don't put much credence in it. There would seem to be lots of other things to take care of at MK first. Best sign of all... COP is now open just about all the time. It seems that it was seasonal for a while.

They took the Carosel of Progress out of Disneyland and converted it to Imaginations:Progress so who knows what they'll do at WDW. It sat idle for many years after closing. I've never seen more than a handful of people at Carosel. I always try to see it once during my trip.

CoP does seem to be seasonal...but they can't take it away...it's a clasic and I love it!

My family loves the Carosel! There usually is alot of people on it when we ride it. I really hope they don't change a thing.

in all honesty, i don't see it going anywhere anytime soon especially since it's been in MK since 1975 and a staple at the 1964 World's Fair. i would absolutely hate to see it moved b/c my family and i love it and look forward to it every trip

All together now "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of everyday..."

The CoP is not seasonal anymore. And they're not going to take it away any time in the future, so I think that it's best that we let the rumors die.

What CoP really needs is a nice, long refurbishment. Many effects are broken, many things are in terrible condition, and the last scene is long-past the 'needs updating' stage.

My family would be heartbroken! A trip to Mk without CoP would be like a trip to Epcot without Spaceship Earth!

OH NO! I had no idea they were thinking of replacing this! I love COP. It's one of our favorites. Please don't shut it down Disney!

They've been "just about to shut it down" for almost a decade now. I wouldn't worry too much just yet.

But please, please give it some TLC...!
