Recently moved to a new area and saw there is a Save A Lot in an adjacent neighborhood. What kind of things do they have? I know they probably have typical food items, but what kind of prices...is it quality? Do they accept coupons?

We have those here. It is basically the same as any other grocery just a lot of brands nobody has ever heard of..lol

I will buy boxed foods and canned foods there but I refuse to buy anything perishable there..Don't know why I am that way and I am sure the stuff is fine, but I am a freak about some things and this is one of them...:rotfl2:

We have one here. My dad buys all of his meat from there. It is right around the corner from his house. There are a lot of different brands there and they let you use coupons, but I don't think they double.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. Sounds like it is worth me at least stopping in.
Are the prices comparable/better than other grocery stores?

Save a lot has canned veggies for $.29 each can!!! I buy all my canned and boxed foods there.....Apples are good. Onions, potatoes, most produce is ok, Some meats are ok.....Dairy is good. Depends on the store I guess. Ive been in some taht I wouldnt spend a dime in and Ive been in some that are awsome.

I don't buy the perishables either, in fact I rarely go into ours because the prices are just as high as generics in other stores.

Yep. I have found this to be the case as well. Wal-Mart and Kroger seem to have much better prices on everything except for the Save-A-Lot's canned veggies, which IMO, is very good quality for the money.

It's a mixed bag.. Some of the things I found to be no cheaper than in the bigger stores.. Some generic things (stuff to bake with; sugar; evaporated milk; etc.) was definitely priced lower.. Once in awhile I would find a great sale on one or two name brand products (Folgers coffee - the big can - comes to mind), but it was hit or miss..

I probably couldn't do all of my shopping there (just like I can't buy everything at Aldi's), but it's worth a "look see".. :)

I buy some stuff there but not everything. The one near me has great prices on convenience type foods that I wouldn't usually buy but I will get once in awhile like frozen pizza or corn dogs. I always buy my baking cocoa there. They have some brand I've never heard of but it's really good and inexpensive. Sometimes their eggs will be cheaper too.

Some weeks their meats have good prices, some weeks it's cheaper elsewhere. Definitely check it out but don't expect to do all of your food shopping there.
