Save 20% off DP?

On Disney's website, it says if you book a vacation package with a DP you can save up to 20%. I did this, but am not sure if I saved any money. We got the basic (1 snack, 1 QS and 1 SD) DP for 2 adults, 1 child. It added, roughly an additional $800 to our 6 night stay coming up in November.

Does that price seem right for 6 nights or is it discounted? I'm not even sure what the actual price/per day is for the DDP we chose.

They are referring to the fact that you could save off up to 20% by buying the ddp, as opposed to paying for your food on your own (i.e. not using your prepaid dining plan). The dining plan itself is not discounted. I think that the cost for the regular dining plan is in the $45 for adults and $12 for children.

For 2011 dates, the DDP is $45-$47 per adult, and for 2011, it is about $51-53

They don't discount the dining plan, other than free dining. You pay full price for the dining plan.

Then -- in theory -- depending on what you order, you might possible "save" up to 20%.
In other words, it is theoretically possible to get $60+ "worth" of food, for what you paid.

It is also possible you will get significanly less than $50 worth of value. You need to look at menus, estimate how you would use the dining plan, and figure out whether it would bring you any savings at all. Or whether it would have been cheaper to just skip the plan altogether.

And it's no guarantee that you will save that much - they're saying that you CAN save UP TO 20% over paying out of pocket for the same items you would be entitled to on the dining plan. How much you save, if anything, will depend entirely on how you and your party actually use the plan.
