First time going to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
What is the difference between booking a Savannah vs a Standard via DVC?

Savannah view has views of the savannah off your balcony, meaning zebras and giraffes and stuff.

Standard can be pool, parking lot, or landscaping view, with a few partial savannah or people-pen views. It's a hodge-podge of possibilities.

The savannah view looks out over the animals. Standard view looks out over parking lot, pool, bus area or small parts of savannah that don't have as many animals or have fence in view (basically a converted savannah view that people complained about).

OK. Thank you! The rooms themselves are identical, it's the view. Beauty!! Thank you for the clarification!

Correct when comparing savannah view and standard view. There is another DVC category at Jambo that is a Value and that category room is slightly smaller and the views range between savannah, pool and parking lot but you can't request so you wouldn't know which you might end up with.

I'm not sure if I am missing something above but the AKV rooms at the AKL are in Jambo. Standard DVC rooms at Jambo are all pool view with some reclassified savanna views (which we have had and loved)
(Kidani has standard view parking lot views.)

All Jambo standard and savanna view rooms are of like size. It is the "value" category rooms that are smaller. All Kidani standard and savanna view rooms are also the same size, but the 1BRs and 2BRs at Kidani are larger than the Jambo standard and savanna view rooms and have an extra bathroom.

The standards at Jambo are pool view and some previously categorized savanna views changed to standard (the oartial savanna or people pen views referred to above although some even seem like full savanna view). None of the standards at Jambo have parking lot or just landscape view.

At Kidani, the standards can face the road, the bus stop, the front entrance, the pool area (with landscaping in between), or the Pembe savanna where they also converted some savannas to standard because the views were not that good.

If you actually want to try to get a converted savanna view room via reserving standard, I would suggest at Jambo you make a non-guaranteed request for a room along Kudo Trail (the left side of the u-shaped building) because the pool is not on that side and if you get the request it would have to be a converted savanna view room. Similarly at Kidani, you should request a room near the Pumba elevator since the standards in that area are all former savanna view rooms.

Thank you for that succinct instruction. I am sure it has been mentioned many times before, but it never sunk in for me before. Probably because I always try for Jambo. But good to know if there is no availability there.
