We are going to the savannah area for several days. We will have our two preschoolers with us. Any suggestions of things to do or see- or places to eat or stay? Any tips for hilton head- we may visit there a couple of days too. Thank you!

Go out to Tybee Island. When the tide is low the sand dollars are easy picking.

Eat at the Crab Shack on Tybee or at Williams Seafood (it burned down a few years back so I'm not sure if it ever reopened)

Do the trolley tour and double back

We went there for spring break a couple of years ago and DD still ranks it at the top of her vacations. She was 10 at the time. We loved the Pirate's House Restaurant. Also, the Old Savannah Trolley tour. On Hilton Head do not miss the Salty Dog Cafe. Since going there, we see their T-shirts all over the place. We loved, loved, loved the Commander Zodiac boat tour.
(843. 671.3344 Commander Zodiac) We saw dolphins and got to go searching for sand dollars on a huge sand bar at low tide! We stayed the Hilton on Hilton Head and would definitely stay there again. The beach was unbelievable!

We went to Savannah in February 2007 and stayed at the River Street Inn and had a room overlooking the Savannah River. The hotel was built in an old mill and was quaint and comfortable, and quite affordable for being right on the river. There were many shops below the hotel and all along the River Street area.

A must eat at is The Lady and Sons restaurant opened by Paula Deen and now owned by her 2 sons. The food is wonderful. That was the only place we ate at when we were there, since it was so good.

I was there over Labor Day weekend, and me and my dd stayed at the Marriott right next to the Visitor center. We paid $116. 2 queen beds. Don't eat the continental breakfast. They charge $8.00 and it stunk. But the place was gorgeous and you are with in walking distance of everything. If you stay near the river, rooms run almost $180-$200.

I know there is a large park on the south side of all the squares for your children to play, other than that, there isn't much else, except the beach for your little ones.

My dd just signed up for the night ghost crawl. A tour bus takes them to different bars and haunted places, like the Pirates Bar. She is going Halloween night. She can't wait. We were told the 250,000 people live in Savannah, and Halloween weekend, almost 250,000 come and visit the most haunted city in the U.S.

We were there in September, did the trolley tours, did a ghost tour, ate at Paula Deans, ate at Pirates House and had a good time. Did a lot of walking too. With little ones maybe one of the river cruises would be fun. Lots of shops and places to eat along the river. I was fascinated by all the history but I'm guessing a little one won't be.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, free breakfast, which was pretty good for a free meal. Plenty of choices, very clean hotel and the staff was so friendly. As a matter of fact everywhere we went the people were very friendly.

Do not miss Paula Deen's restaurant 'The Lady and Sons':thumbsup2 it is on Commerce Street

We went for the lunch buffet, and I think it was 12.99 for the buffet, drink, and your dessert!

We also took a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city which was wonderful...but it may be too slow and boring for small children
