We have a roof mounted satellite on our motorhome and was wondering what the reception was like at the Fort. Anyone have trouble getting a signal ??

Good question I would like to know mind you mine would be for Bell Expressvue from Canada not Dish or Direct.

It may depend on the site location. FW is not your average campground where they stripped the land and built the campsites. FW was more or less built around nature and many of the trees etc... are still tere. That is what makes it sometimes difficult for the bigger rigs to get into the sites. Reception may depend on how "Wildernessed" your campsite or loop may be. I have seen some dishes but they were on sites that backed up to the main roads where they could get a clear view of the sky.

I have not had any problems receiving DISH or BELL signals at FW, but it obviously depends on the site.

Thanks do you actually have the elev and azimuth written down by chance I called Bell today and got the standard line of well we can't supply you with this info as it would be illegal as it is only to be used in Canada LOL.

I took my dish once to the fort and it worked but who has time to sit in the camper and watch tv. The heck with that. When I have my days at the fort I am either at a park or doing something outside becuase it's too pretty to sit around. I will say this. There are lots of local channels in Orlando just on regular tv. Make sure to press the antenna booster.

Here's a website you can use as I don't know whether you have a single lnb or a dual - http://www3.telus.net/rampage/skew.htm

If it's single, azimuth is 199 and elevation is 55 - this is for Nimiq1. I don't have my numbers here at home, they're in my camper. I think these numbers are close to accurate, but you just have to search around a little as they will be in the ballpark. Good luck.

I can appreciate that...but we like to come back to the motorhome after a long day of exploring and relax to a little tv before bed..especially since we can't sit out by our own campfire as we normally do while camping. It's no different than a cabin or hotel room. :)

We have a dual LNB as we have a 27" LCD HDTV for the trailer and an HD reciever that gets taken with us I can't miss my shows in HD no matter where I go LOL. Thanks for the link it is appreciated.

we take a dish along (not on the camper). it is ran out and away from the camper. but, we have never had any problems bringing in a signal with that.

Just got back and couldn't get a signal on site 541 or where my friends were on 536. Too many trees.

I'm the same way:thumbsup2 ..like to wind down..pop on the tv..(maybe a glass of wine)...and off to dream land. Of course..I usually have someone else shouting "shut off the tv!" I know when we are in the hotel..it's usually one of the first things we do when we get back to the room..is put on the tv.
Hope you are able to get a signal.

Yea, we are the same, we enjoy watching a bit of TV and relaxing after a long day at the park. Not everyone needs to cram every minute at Disney with something Disney, maybe we spent too much time in the Keys and have that whole laid back mentality....lol ;)

On Thanksgiving Day, we spend most of the day at the campsite watching football all day long with our entire family. Can't think of a better place than sitting outside the camper watching football surrounded by family!

I remember one time I brought the dish and receiver. My aunt had come to stay for a couple days and DD told her as I was pulling all the stuff out to be ready to hear dad get mad and cuss. Poor thing. I do sometimes like to bring the dish when a night race is on (NASCAR). I put the tv outside and we drink a few adult beverages. I believe NASCAR has gotten my last $ and I really don't care anymore about racing and I will not go on about that lol. RIP # 3, They ruined the house you built.

The moral to my story is when I put the tripod up and mount the dish and try to get it all stable and then try and lock in the signal I probably look like Clark Griswold. I need that magnetic type that you put on the hitch or tailgate and it's more solid. My tripod wiggles a lot as it's a cheapy kind. Maybe if the new camper deal comes thru I'll have a permanent dish put on it. Like I posted before we have so much going on I forget the tv. Orlando has a ton of local channels though with the booster on.

We did that last October with baseball playoffs. It was SUCH an exciting time here in Michigan "Go Tigers" !! We had to bring a tv and we had it on and some of our neighbors came over to cheer them on with us :)

I would consider this even in a hotel room especially since it is damn near impossible to get ANY hockey coverage in Florida even with the Lightning just down the road. Hell even the sports coverage on ESPN hardly carries any hockey updates or scores for crying out loud so I need my fix and I have NHL centre Ice so the dish will have to come with me this Dec LOL.

Yea, hockey is only covered really on the Fox Sports Net station in Florida, and then only the local teams. I can't remember if you can get Fox Sports on Disney cable, but I don't remember seeing it.

Baseball playoffs and the Fort, sounds like a match made in heaven...lol

Ya baseball to me is like watching paint dry I watch hockey only and CIS football which is like NCAA football in the US. As for basketball and the NFL and baseball I would rather pop my eyes out with a spoon than watch any of them.
