"A large U.S. spy satellite has lost power and propulsion and could hit the Earth in late February or March, government officials said Saturday.

A senior government official says lawmakers and other nations are being kept apprised of the situation.

The satellite, which no longer can be controlled, could contain hazardous materials, and it is unknown where on the planet it might come down, they said."

THAT IS DISTURBING..

Honestly, Its like the size of a bus, what if it lands on my house?!?!?!?!?

Oh wow...that's pretty crazy. I read about it on the CB and the thread title was hysterical. "I'd be really peeved if this random satelite fell on my house"
I mean not that the situation is funny...but you know what I mean

scary... i can just imagine it falling into my garden or something...

the government won't release stuff they think could cause panic
so is this real? (not questioning you, just the article)

Its the size of a bus, so your garden would be........Null and void. >_<

Yes, its real. They've lost control of the satellite, and they dont know where its going to fall.

this happened a while ago, but it fell in the ocean ( Thank God)

i hope it lands in the ocean again...

I don't want it to land anywhere near me, but i want to watch it crash...

A garden is a backyard in England,right?

Well,I just hope it doesn't land on me,anyone I like/love ie family, friends,or the hospital I may be in.
But wooh, that gave me the willeys reading about that.
I thought things couldn't fall out of orbit?

I was watching this on the news last night,
They said that satellites fall out of orbit constantly.

Nothing to be worried about.
Plus, it's almost guaranteed to fall in the ocean.
That's the vast majority of the earth.

Well it has a high chance of landing in the ocean considering the earth is 70%water.

How lovely. Brightens your day doesn't it?

Hopefully it's headed straight for the ocean.
=]

It'll probably land in the ocean or the middle of nowhere, no where near where I live.

They can guide the satellites as well. This has happened 3 times since 1979 and each time they fell in the ocean. One recent fall was guided by rockets into an empty part of the Pacific.

Holy crap. If that lands on my house I will be peeved.
If it lands in DC, it will still effect me. ******.
I really hope it lands in the ocean!
