What is an average SAT score? I've been looking it up, and the world refuses to give me any information other than, "Average scores depend on what university you plan on going to."

I just want to know if I did as badly as I think I did.
I should have taken a math class this year.

Was it a 1600 or 2000 test? Mine is out of 1600. I'm not sure of the average total score but this is what I found. Reading: 527, Math: 536, Writing: 519

But I don't know really try Google?

I'm assuming it was a 2400 test since my 3 scores added up is more than 1600.

I searched Google and it didn't really help. It all depends on colleges and the sites I saw assumed I'd be trying to get into Harvard or whatever.

Well honeslty SAT scores don't matter much unless you're going to BIG university. But like a small local one, they don't care much.

I'm not sure.

Yeah, LOCAL colleges don't care.
But actual universities do.

I guess I'll figure it out at school tomorrow.

Most schools put more weight in the ACT, than the SAT.

LOCAL Universities don't care either. The ACT matters more to them. There is the University of Arkansas around here and as long as your ACT places you into college level classes you can go there. ALOT of schools don't care abut the SAT's.

Over here they don't push the ACTs on us as much as the SATs.
Oh well. It doesn't really matter. I'm pretty sure I'll get into the school I want.

It's just nice to know how you rank compared to other students.

It should tell you on your score thingy what percentile you are in. that compares you to other students in the same category as yourself.

2400 including the newly added essay :thumbsup2

ETA: Most colleges will accept scores above 1000.

1500 is a very good score. It is an average.

Some students in my class got a 1500 and they are in the top 5 of our class.

SATs don't rank your intelligence accurately as some people are not as good at taking tests as they are with everything else.

Also, today, many many colleges don't weigh your SAT score as heavily. They focus more on your social and community activities, what you do as extra-curricular activities and if you maintain a consistant score throughout high school.

Yes. That is the highest you can score on SATs now. They added the essay so scoring is different.

Okay so as soon as I said that I realized it sounded stupid.

My SAT's were out of 1600. They must score differently, or added a lot of stuff sense then. :confused3

they don't grade you on a total score, so they wouldn't have an average for a total score because you can get say a 1600 in many different ways.

They grade you on three different sections. But added up there is a total score. I think what she's asking for is unreachable. They don't have an "average" score because it does depend on a lot of different things.

When did you take the SATs?

Perhaps this scoring system is only affective to MA? :confused3

The new essay was added a few years ago. I took the SATs about a year and a half ago as a junior in high school and I took the PSATs as a sophomore and had the added essay. Classes before me also had the essay.

The only thing they added to SATs was the essay.

It is reachable lol. The average score for a 2400 point SAT test is 1500-1700. :thumbsup2

I guess so. I took the SAT's last year. The scoring system must be different here.
