Sat Nav recommendations - US

how do you use sat-nav on an iphone in the US without racking up massive roaming charges?

As they say on their(co pilot) site:
"Detailed street maps are stored on-board your iPhone, so theres no need to worry about being left stranded without navigation in remote locations or data roaming charges when you travel abroad."


No different to using a stand alone Sat Nav, maps are stored on the unit the same.

I tend to go old fashioned and get paper maps. I live with a built in sat Nav in my car and MUCH prefer it, don't get me wrong (!), but then I remind myself I spent 15 years with a job that required me to read road maps every day until sat navs were invented and I survived!!!!!

The TomTom app on the iPhone does NOT use data so no unexpected data roaming charges and will work with data roaming turned off
