Sarilas' O-fficial Pre-Trip Report (a.k.a. Vacation, Take TWO!) - Jan. 30-Feb. 8, '09

I can't believe we're getting so close to your trip! I was in Target on Saturday, and totally thought of you. There were a lot of princess / Disney type things in the holiday clearance section, and all I could think was, Lara's girls would love those!

Yes, the DIS invades my daily life. :lmao:

We're essentially going to see if we are either offered a bounceback or if Disney has some sort of room rate discounts for that time- it would just be a 4 day trip so not nearly as expensive as the one we're about to embark on, BUT it COULD mean a stay at a Deluxe resort which I WANT TO DO REALLY BADLY! :rotfl:
Who doesn't dream of a DELUXE resort from time to time!! hehee =D

that's alot of rhinestones!!!:scared: You're going to have nighmares about being attacked by them!

I know, right? It really looks cute on the girls' shirts and such, and since I'm FINALLY finished I can take pictures today!

LOVE IT! DH and I were looking at the Disney stuff before the holiday and seriously contemplated Tink stockings for the three girls...

Who doesn't dream of a DELUXE resort from time to time!! hehee =D

Well heck YEAH! DH has taken to just smiling and shaking his head when I talk about trip #2 before we've actually taken trip #1... :rotfl:

HAPPY NEW YEAR! :woohoo:

Oh, what a year this is going to be. I'm insisting on it! It's been a rough past couple of years and this is going to be one where the words fun and relaxing are worked into as many sentences as humanly possible.

So! Back to Disney schtuff!

Today is 29 DAYS TILL DISNEY!

How cool is it that our 30 day marker was New Years Eve?! Of course I couldn't really point that out to anyone but DH because we're hiding our actual trip date from the kids! They still think we're leaving in February... :rolleyes1 But inside I was :woohoo: :yay:  :cheer2:

But here's a picture of our countdown calendar, as misleading as it is!

1-09212.jpg

You'll notice the 22 is the black Mickey head toward the center of the calendar... that's our ACTUAL #1 Mickey head, which is taped down completely and says "Surprise! We're going to Disney World TOMORROW!" :woohoo:

Okay, so I tried to get a shot of our strollers a while back (you can see our countdown to the countdown calendar pinned up in the background)- we bought two of these pink beauties for Stasia and Lexi, and we LOVE them!

Strollers.jpg

Lightweight umbrella type strollers with a basket underneath, sun shade, a partial mesh back for ventilation and these little fanny pack style storage compartments between the handles to store small items. They're perfect and the girls love them (as evidenced by Stasia not wanting to get out long enough for me to take the pic!)

I also said I'd take some pics of the shirts I was adding rhinestones to, but darned if they didn't show up very well and I am in no state to try and re-take all the pics! Nonetheless...

Here's an Ariel shirt- there are rhinestones in the air bubbles!
Arielshirt2.jpg

Cinderella- stones are in the magic dust swirling around her as well as within her name.
Cindyshirt.jpg

There are two of these, but I just they're already silver and sparkly so I just added a couple of stones randomly within the letters.
Princessshirt.jpg

There are also two of these- I placed stones in the already there white 'sparkles' throughout the shirt.
Princessesshirt.jpg

There are stones within the air bubbles here, too!
arielshirt1.jpg

You can see these stones the best (on the dark fabric)- they're within the magic dust and her name as well!
Jasmineshirt.jpg

This is Tatiana's Tink hoodie- you can see it is covered in Tinkerbells but I just placed stones randomly throughout it (on a few of her wands and such - not all over!) and also on the pocket detail. Everything is very subtle- it's not Disney Vegas after all! :rotfl:
Tatianasjacket.jpg

Here is a jacket that I bought today at Wal-Mart- we went in for groceries and the kids section is RIGHT next to the grocery area... I still needed a lightweight jacket for the little girls and I saw these!
Tinkerbellhoodie.jpg

THEY LIGHT UP! Come on! I couldn't resist. Now they match the girls Princess shoes which also light up... okay maybe it IS Disney Vegas! :lmao:

So I'll leave you with our countdown quotes, and a New Years wish from all of us to all of you- may this be the best year yet, full of hope and wishes and dreams fulfilled!

From me, my DH, and of course...

Loving the countdown trivia! Hope you and yours have a wonderful year as well. :thumbsup2

I love your countdown calendar. I always start mine way too early and decided this year to wait until 30 days. I better get moving because I have not even started yet and 30 days is approaching quickly!

I really love all the rhinestone shirts. You worked really hard on that!! I'm not sure I'd have the patience. Guess it's a good thing I have a boy. :rotfl:

:lmao: Disney Vegas! :lmao:

Your handywork is just beautiful! Your girls will be covered in pixie dust fashions! :thumbsup2

Your countdown calendar is awesome! You are all going to have such a great trip.

Happy 2009! Your countdown calendar is great -- and super sneaky :). Love how all the rhinestones turned out -- just beautiful!

Looks like everyone had lots of fun last night! :goodvibes

I keep forgetting to free some mickey heads from Home depot! I need to do that tomorrow!

I love all you clothes! So cute! I wish I had a little girl to dress for disney!!

It is getting so CLOSE girlie!!! I am getting goosebumps of excitement for you already!!!

Thank you! I was going to do a 30 day countdown calendar but my 10 year old kept asking me how many days it was till Disney and I couldn't take it anymore! I figured 50 days of countdown would appease her enough... even though it's only 30-ish really... ;)

:lmao: Disney Vegas! :lmao:

I seriously cannot WAIT, LL!

I'm a terrible secret keeper from my kids- my husband is floored that I haven't spilled the beans on this one... and so am I! :rotfl:

Hey now! What's wrong with Disney Vegas?

Well apparently NOTHING! Have you SEEN the glitter and light up accessories I'm taking with us?! :lmao:

I keep forgetting to free some mickey heads from Home depot! I need to do that tomorrow!

I love all you clothes! So cute! I wish I had a little girl to dress for disney!!

I almost got more yesterday from Home Depot but I think if I do a countdown again I'll recycle my current ones which are hardly used! ...if I can get the kids to tear them off neatly. Like I can count on that one, really!

It is getting so CLOSE girlie!!! I am getting goosebumps of excitement for you already!!!

I KNOW! Yesterday while we were out water heater shopping (fun stuff... NOT) DH was getting downright giddy! Which got ME in a downright giddy mood, which made us just ridiculously silly and full of anticipation! And he keeps saying things like "You going to be able to keep the October trip a secret?" Not an if, or a maybe... So the October trip is a 90% possibility!

Happy 28 days till Disney!

Space Mountain only travels at a maximum speed of about 28 miles per hour.

Holy carp that just sounds downright SCARY! It gives me goosebumps and tingles to think that our trip is SO CLOSE!

Did I tell everyone that I confirmed our return flight?! I can't remember! We're flying home on Sunday on the latest flight (7 something that night) so we will have some time to fiddle around in one of the parks before having to get on the bus back to the airport!

This begs a question to be answered though: How much time do you alot for getting the bus back to MCO? For instance, if our flight leaves at 7, what time do we need to be at POR in order to get to the airport and get through security? Anyone?!

:woohoo: Woohoo

When I first read this I thought you were referring to the speed of SM as being downright scary! :rotfl: Then, I realized that you were talking about how close your trip is! ;)

Sorry, I can't help you on the flight thing -- we have always driven down.

Lara, ME takes you to the airport approx 3 hours before your flight.

Oooh, how exciting that the October trip is a 90% possibility, I bet that feels good! :woohoo:

ME will give you a pick up time about a day or two before you leave and it's about three hours before your flight. :thumbsup2

I'm so glad for you all that everything has concretely firmed up for this trip.....AND THE OCTOBER TRIP---YAHOO!!!

Since Philadisney had just finished her report, I'm allowing myself to add one on to replace it, so I'm coming in on yours. Honestly, a person could spend hours and hours reading these, so I have to limit myself. I stay with a few longtime friends, then pick up chiming in on a new report or two, and I check in periodically on others without responding (like I've done with yours), and then when someone finishes theirs, I 'commit' to a new one. Did you get all that? Just my ramblings to explain that I have been checking in on your story periodically, but now I'm ready to add it to my regulars list.

I think you're up here north of Nashville, probably fairly close to us, from things I can remember reading.

I loved your gingerbread houses and especially appreciated the fast that you added a Hidden Mickey, because I absolutely would have done the same! Brooklynn was too small for the houses this year, but by next year, she should be able to do something that resembles a house. I debated about getting her one, but decided at age two, putting sprinkles on cookies and cakes was good enough for now. It would be fun to make the houses an annual tradition and take pictures of them, then look back in the years ahead at the progress she makes from year to year in her construction and artistic abilities.

You sure have lots of good Disney things for your kids - lots of trinkets and clothes and goodies! I hope this will be the trip of a lifetime for you - that it will be everything you want it to and more, and that you will come back ready to plan the next trip and the next one and the next one. I love taking my family there - whatever members can go on whichever trips, we always have fun. I love seeing them having fun, getting away from work and school and bills and stress and just having fun! If I had the money to do it, I'd fly everyone down for one weekend every month just for a little Disney R&R. I bet it would make the whole rest of the month better for everyone!

Anyway, enjoy the rest of this planning. The next few weeks will fly by, and you will be there, immersed in the magic - the sights, the sounds, the smells, that awesome feeling that words just don't do justice to! I'll look forward to seeing many pictures upon your return to enjoy and get me ready for my March trip.

Oh my gosh, Jackie- I just busted a gut realizing it looks like I was scared of the speed of SM.. :rotfl:

Thank you both! So ME actually gives you a pick up time? That is FABULOUS! I thought I needed to schedule that in there which for some reason had me all kinds of stressed out.

It's lookin' good for October! DH has even been playing Disney movies for on his days off, of his own accord! Talk about invasion of the body snatchers! ;)

Awe, thanks, MeMom! Yep, I'm actually in the Goodlettsville/Whites Creek area about 10 miles north of town. Very quiet and rural until you jump on I-24 and are immersed in the city 5 minutes later. Best of both worlds!

My sainted Mother is the one who started the gingerbread house tradition- she was a chef and made them for work each year, but she loved making one (or two!) at home with us kids, all sloppy and dripping in candy then letting us smash it after the holidays and enjoy the fruits of our labor. My older kids remember doing this with her, but sadly my younger ones never got the opportunity. And yeah, I think Brooklynn would probably get the hang of it more in the years to come- my 1 1/2 year old just ate pieces of candy while we decorated, while my 3 year old seemed to really enjoy placing each piece carefully on the house- what a difference 17 months can make! ;)

I would so do the same thing about flying my family to Disney once a month if I could- heck, is it WRONG of me to try and convince my DH that he needs a job in Orlando?! :rolleyes1

27 boats run through Pirates of the Caribbean

27 Days! ACK! So much to do, so little time!

First things first though- today I'm breaking out the suitcases, laying them in ours and the little girls room and I'm going to start organizing! I've got to get a feel for exactly how much luggage we'll need, and I can get away with packing much of our clothes now as far as the lighter layers are concerned (shorts, etc.).

I'm debating on packing a suitcase with breakfast items or just ordering from Garden Grocer... I may end up doing a little of both so we can have milk for the girls in the room and what not... DECISIONS!

I'm still debating on which of our ADR's to keep too- I'm thinking about canceling Chef Mickeys, because I already know they'll freak Anastasia out and she'll end up not eating. Not to mention it's a late (8 pm) ADR and I can totally rebook it for October (knock on wood) for a better time. I'm resolute on canceling Cindy's Table as well- it's another late ADR (1:30 lunch) which is the girls' nap time, and it can be rescheduled for a better time next trip. I think I'll keep 1900 Park though- I get such a kick out of the idea of the step sisters and the kids want ONE princess meal...

I've got to buckle down!
