Sarilas' O-fficial Pre-Trip Report (a.k.a. Vacation, Take TWO!) - Jan. 30-Feb. 8, '09

It's O-fficial! I am coming to live with you!

I saw that Tink pillow at the Disney Store last week and it's so adorable. They had a bunch of them with different characters. Cinderella with Gas & Jaq. So cute and I really wanted one but I figured Marc would draw the line with a Cinderella pillow.

I didn't realize you were keeping the new dates a secret from the kids, did I miss that?

The Tink pillow was on sale for $7.99... how could I say no?!

And I don't know if I made an o-fficial announcement about the dates or not... but what I decided to do after the last date change was NOT tell the kids we'd changed again! I did tell them there would be no P&PP so they wouldn't be disappointed when we go, but that's it- they still think we're going in February but we're ACTUALLY leaving on January 30! We're using the same Mickey head countdown calendar, but they're going to get a real surprise on day 22... I wrote underneath that one:

"SURPRISE! We're going to Disney World TOMORROW!"

Then I taped it down really well (yet inconspicuously so that it looks as though it's taped down normally).

They'll think we have 20 more days till Disney and they'll have ONE!

Do it! They have a one day sale (Black Friday sale I suppose) that can't be missed. Of course I've already bought almost everything that's on sale!

Isn't that always the way it is?!

I'm honestly a terrible secret keeper- I think this one gets easier after I've been keeping it for a week or so. I always want to spill the beans early on, but it's not so much on the forefront of my mind anymore, thus making it easier to keep mum on!

Man, I'm a terrible secret TELLER apparently too! I could've sworn I posted it here, but I think it was right in the midst of all the pre-Thanksgiving drama and I murmured it rather than shouted it from the rooftops.

Rooftops are SO much more fun!

Y'all, I just read a rumor that Disney may be offering ANOTHER discount for early next year! The rumor is that it'll be anounced during the WDW Christmas parade... Why, Disney?! WHY don't you want me to make my reservation and STICK WITH IT?!

When is that parade going to be aired?

I believe it airs Christmas day... I just tried looking but don't see anything yet on ABC.com

I wouldn't doubt anything at this rate! I mean really could I have changed my vacation plans more?!

I think it's good you didn't tell the kids about the last change, they would have been so confused (then they'd be in the same boat as me)!

Especially if you make another change!

I know, right?! DH has wanted to surprise them from the get go, so this is the next best option.

If we book a bounceback or another trip at all for next year we'll definitely keep it a surprise. OR TRY TO!

Of course it's just a rumor, so nothing at all may come of it... but could they REALLY top the 4/3 special? I'm already saving over $600 on that puppy!

I can't imagine that anything could top that one!

I need them to release a HUGE discount for our spring break week, but I doubt they will do that -- so I might be safe!

They could actually cut the room rates way back and still make money on them. Room rates are based largely on supply and demand. Most of the cost of running a resort are fixed costs...costs Disney the same amount of money whether 1 or 100 rooms are rented. They just have to cover the cost associated to the room itself when it's rented like the labor for mousekeeping and the electricity and more busses...stuff like that. So even if they break-even on the room rental they make money on all the tickets, food and souvenirs that you buy. It's better to make less profit then no profit at all.
