We are coming to DW for Thanksgiving. Stayed at POR last year and really had a relaxing time. Like the idea of boating to DD for the evenings. Thinking of staying at Saratoga Springs this year. Anybody got opinions to give me and/or good info about this resort? Thanks!

We really enjoyed our stay at SSR. We never took the boat to DTD, as we just walked from our building in Congress Park. It was about a 5-7 minute walk. The resort itself is very relaxing, and the pool is awesome. I would say the only negatives are that it is spread out (but so are many other on-site resorts), and bus service was hit and miss. There were times when we waited just a minute or 2 for a bus and then others where we waited almost an hour! I would highly recommend this resort though. It's very nice with a very relaxed feel. The negatives to me did not outweigh the positives.

I've stayed there once, but just for a couple days. I really enjoyed it there! The room decor is beautiful and the location is great for those who love going to Downtown Disney. I had a great room in Congress Park that overlooked the quiet pool and Downtown Disney. :)

I've read various things about poor bus service there, but I must say that I did not experience that during my short stay. I did take the bus several times, and did not find the wait to be long. In fact, I had a bus entirely to myself twice. What a luxury! :wizard:

Good luck as you decide! :wave2:

We will be there for the first time this Thanksgiving!

I would definitely reccomend SSR for people who want to spend time at Downtown Disney. The bus situation at SSR is definitely hit or miss. Stay at the Congress Park area and walk to the DTD bus stop for your transportation needs. You'll save time in the long run.

You might want to check into getting ressies for SSR very soon if you are talking about THIS Thanksgiving....that is a very busy time for DVC....all resorts might be full.

Because DVC is a timeshare, you might be a bit late for THIS year. CRO might have availablility though, so give it a try.

I have never stayed there, but have toured it. The rooms are very nice, the proximity to DTD is great for those who plan to do a lot of stuff there.

I have no experience with the bus service. We drove to SSR the day we toured it.

I'd certainly stay there.

People have done a good job with the pros of SSR. The negatives as I see them are 1) no food served poolside. You must go inside to AP for food. Very inconvenient for a family or wet swimmers. 2) no room service or sit down restaurant. These are deal breakers for our family. We like to maximize our vacation time and also like to relax. Running around to DTD to eat and having to cook are not our idea of vacation. Simply dialing up room service at the end of a long day is a treat we greatly missed at this resort. It is a beautiful resort but simply not our style. I call it a glorified condo resort. The gym and spa are excellent here, however. Good luck and let us know how you enjoyed your stay.

I really hope that SSR owners who are "bugged" by these issues (I KNOW you are not the only one) continue to speak up, and I hope DVC actually listens. I own at BCV, and one of my favorite features (besides Beaches 'n Cream) is Hurricane Hannas....the kids's meals are SOO cute with the bucket and pail, and it is so nice to be able to order something without leaving the pool area. If something this cool can be made at Beach Club, then it can be done at SSR...DVC just needs the proper "encouragement".
