Would like to be near reception, pool, busses and counter service restaurants
Any views on this?
Thanks

IMO best to be in the closest blocks to DTD so you can walk it, takes around 10 mins. Flipside is that it puts you a good way from the hospitality house and restaurants.

If you want to be near the main pool, Carriage House and the main counter service (Artist's Palette), then you will want to request The Springs area.

We stayed at the DTD end first time and it was brilliant to walk over but this time we ended up in the springs. At first we were a little disappointed but it ended up working out better as this time we had DS and we (meaning DH) could easily get hot water for his bottle and at the same time get a cup of tea in his resort mug. I think you need to look at what is more important to you, will you actually walk to DTD? Would you want to be at the main pool or happier in the quieter pool? How often do you think you'd go to the food court? There is a bus stop near each building so I wouldn't worry about that.

Thanks for taking the time to respond
Very good points. I think. I will ask to be in the springs area if that is where the main pool and restaurant is located.

We have stayed at SSR 3 times each time in the paddock. On our last trip how ever we stayed in the congress parkbut one of the blocks further from DTD walk way. We could hear the music in our villa till early hours of the morning every day. Luckily we were so tired it didn't really matter. But next time because of it we will be requesting the paddock dd will be nearly 3 and the pool there is amazing. X

I will be staying at SSR for the first time in October. I have asked for Congress Park because on my last trip (staying at POR,) we went to DTD lots! Hoping we will be lucky and get a DTD view!

Thanks tinks, I will have look on a map

No problem. We didn't want to complain because we received an upgrade to a villa and I dint want to seem ungrateful. Like I said it didn't really bother us but hadn't notice it before and luckily dd sleep through everything.

DH also thinks its because we went in January (normally go September/October) and didn't have air con on at night which the hum seems to cover up most noises.

How long in advance do you guys request a specific block? We are staying here in March and Congress Park would be our preferred location. TIA

I asked when I booked if they would put a request in for a room block. Others do it when they check in online.

Ok thanks. I booked online, so will have to call them. Would it be worthwhile doing it now d'ya think? 9 months in advance!

I think it depends on your circumstances and what you are looking for close access to.

If you want to be close to the Carriage House, you want the Springs.
If you want to be close to DTD walkway, you want Congress Park.
If you want peace and quiet, you want the Carousel.

If you have a car, it really doesn't matter much where you are because you can just drive over. We stayed in the Carousel which is close to NOTHING (but a quiet pool) and it was fantastic. It was so quiet and peaceful and we just drove over to the walkway, if we wanted a stroll to DTD.

I doubt if we will hire a car, considered it briefly, but for what we want to do it won't be worthwhile. We just want to be close to DTD. I will ring them nearer the time.

If you are using Disney Transport then The Grandstand is the first pick up and drop off bus stop. Advantages are the first stop coming back from the parks and you should get a seat on the bus going to the parks. Disadvantage is that going to the parks you will have to travel around the rest of the resort before exiting Saratoga Springs
