Saratoga Springs vs. Old Key West?

For us, the deciding factors of SSR over OKW (where we owned for 15 years) were a) lack of elevators, which, when you're hauling golf clubs up and down from the 3rd floor, is a giant pain, and b) the absolutely bricklike beds. If and when they replace those suckers, we'll consider staying there again, but until then, no way.

Never had a problem with the OKW beds since we've been staying there (since 1992). I like the room size at OKW, the wash/dry machines are larger, parking is so much more convenient. And it's a lot more quiet.

We stayed at OKW for the first time last month and loved it. We had a 2 bedroom villa and it was great. The beds were great. We loveed the layout of the resort. Took the boat to DD twice.

Of the 2 resorts, we have only stayed at SSR so far. I look forward to trying out OKW in the future, though! It definitely has a very "Key West" feel to it, and as someone who loves Key West (we own a timeshare there as well!) it really appeals to me. We do really love SSR, but the main reason we haven't tried OKW yet is the pool. It looks awesome, but right now the biggest thing for us with a pool is the zero entry area that most of the newer pools have. SSR has it, OKW doesn't. Once our girls are older and it isn't a big deal anymore, we'll definitely be checking out OKW!

SSR is our home resort but last month we stayed at OKW for the first time. Frankly, I like them both. We prefer the non-hotel type resorts with exterior entries. I love the tropical charm of OKW, but DS (who is an adult) prefers the more upscale decor of SSR. We never rent a car and find that Disney transportation meets our needs very nicely. Other than a quick bite of breakfast (English Muffin, toast) we don't prepare meals in the villa. In most cases we eat in the parks or at the various resorts. Have tried both the Turf Club at SSR and Olivia's and they were both enjoyable, but not outstanding. We will definitely stay at both resorts again in the future. I recommend trying OKW for the experience.

OP - me personally, I would choose OKW but they are both nice resorts so you really cant go wrong with either, assuming you like the condo style resort to begin with. Although similar, they are also very different in many ways. I have stayed at both (OKW 7 times, SSR 2 times) and although I prefer OKW over SSR it is due to my experiences at each of the resorts. I could detail my personal experiences both good and bad, my preferences and personal pros/cons of the resort but in the end it is something you have to experience for yourself at which point you will be able to form your opinion as to which you prefer.

If you havent stayed at either and are definately interested in both, I would say flip a coin. Stay at one on your next trip and try the other during another stay. Luckily for us, as DVC owners, we have much diversity in our choices of resorts which allows us many different experiences and types of vacations while frequenting wdw; trip after trp, year after year.

I have to note that threads like this always make for interesting reading as peoples opinions will always differ drastically based on their experiences, perceptions and so forth. I also find it quite commical when debates ensue over such things as people tend get emotional and sometimes offended when their preference and/or opinion is not the same as someone elses. Its like asking do you prefer chevy or ford (or in this day and age maybe I should say - toyota or honda).
