Hi all, what are the best standard rooms at SSR? We love the springs but also with have five kids with us that want to swim a lot! We have never stayed here before so any help would be great!

SSR has two main theme pools: the High Rock Spring Pool in the preferred Springs area, and the Paddock Pool in the standard Paddock area. To have easy access to a theme pool with standard room category, best request to make is to be in the Paddock area near the Paddock pool.

And as to rooms in particular, there is no difference between preferred rooms and standard rooms other than location. The Springs area, which is near all central services, and Congress Park, which provides the shorter walk to Disney Springs, are the preferred areas. The rooms everywhere are now really nice since the refurb that was finished last year. Moreover, views and surrounding areas virtually anywhere are good.

"Paddock area, upper floor, near pool" is our favorite request for standard view.

This is our favorite too. Paddock pool is almost like a second feature pool.

A lot of people also like...

"Grandstand area, near pool".

With this one you are steps from the Grandstand pool and a short walk to the main building and main pool.

I agree with the Paddock comments. We have only stayed at SSR once, but we stayed at the Paddock and it was nice to have the pool there, wasn’t too far of a walk from the Carriage House via the bridge, or Disney Springs, and it’s always the 3rd stop out of 5 on the bus route, whether you’re coming or going. I was there during COVID, so the buses were never too crowded, but we always got seats.

Standard sections are Paddock, Grandstand and Carousel. Paddock is where I'd aim and has a great pool area, and depending on building, not much further of a walk to Disney Springs than Congress Park preferred area.

There's a portion of the Paddock that is directly across from the Congress Park bus station. We love this standard location = easy access to the last bus station before leaving SSR and close to the walking path for Disney Springs. Short walk to the quiet pool at Congress Park and the walk to the Paddock pool is longer.

We stayed in this building on our last trip in Sept 2021 and it was awesome. Not too far from the main pool and still close to the Paddock pool. But the best was how close then to the Congress Park bus stop and to the walking path to Disney Springs which we went too multiple times that trip.

In June we were in Paddock building 45, and the Carousel bus stop was literally directly in front of our building. We had a shorter walk to it than guests in either of the Carousel buildings would have. The Paddock pool was just on the other side of the building next to us. We liked the location so much that I think I might request it for our next stay at SSR.

Thanks so much! With building 45 how did you get to the springs? The boat?

There’s a bus to DS - its route runs counter to the park buses. The boats weren’t running last June, but that building is not a terribly long walk from the SSR boat dock.

I'm surprised, but happy, that you mentioned Grandstand as a good area to request, as the views of the golf course from there really appealed to me. However, I read that it's a far ways from Disney Springs. I'll have an ECV, so I'm riding, not walking. When I've stayed at BCV, I've frequently ridden to DHS. How would you say that the "ride" from Grandstand to DS compares in distance to the distance from BCV to DHS? And how far is it from Grandstand to Artist's Pallete vs BCV to YC?

Hmm, Grandstand is pretty far from the entry thats currently open to DS. You use to be able to go in to DS by the Cirque Du Solei entrance but thats been closed awhile. That was really close to the Grandstand area. Grandstand to Artist Point is pretty short(especially if you get a room by the GS pool). I think BCV to BWV is a decent comparison. Depends of course where in the Grandstand area your room. Artist Point is right by the arrow for High Rock Springs Pool.

This image is a good example. Current walking entry to DS is right by the k in the Congress Park area.

Thanks so much! Just the type of picture I was looking for.

Do you know which building number? Thanks

I've heard on the boards how there are two types of numbers for the buildings and it's always confused me to be honest, on a website that I've used for a layout it's labeled building 12 and has rooms 6501-6836 in it. Below I'll paste a picture that hopefully works.

Yes, I think they're using a different numbering system now, one that uses the first two digits of the lowest-numbered rooms in that building. Last summer we stayed in building 45, which is building 8 on this map (we were in room 4714).
