Saratoga Springs Room Questions

We are taking our first trip as DVC owners in a couple weeks at Saratoga Springs. We have never been to that resort so have some questions. I think I read somewhere that the Congress Park rooms were classified as a different category, preferred maybe. Wanted to see if that was true. We had wanted to be in that section to walk to DS but I'm fairly certain our studio reservation is standard. If we can't stay in Congress Park, what is our next best option to request for easy access to Disney Springs? Thanks!

Preferred Locations: Congress Park & Springs
Standard Locations: Carousel, Paddock & Grandstand

The Grandstand Section is close to the Carriage House and the boat to Disney Springs. There is a Golf Path that you can take from near the Carriage House over to Disney Springs, but it connects with the far end of the West Side Parking lot.

The building in the Paddock section that contains rooms 6501-6836 is close to Congress Park.

I love the Grandstand area. Close enough for a short walk to the Hospitality house, but first bus stop as well. That means a seat to the park, but best of all, after a long day, it is the first drop off. When you are foot-weary and exhausted, this is a god-send. I once was on a standing-room only bus coming back from a Halloween party at MK. Absolutely dropping with exhaustion, horribly hot in my costume, and just about to pass out (literally). Thank God for being at the first bus stop. I got out and had to sit for a few minutes on the bench, but made it back to my room eventually.

MY answer to this is if you want to have a shorter walk and not have to trek through the dark (Grandstand "walking path" is not lit) request the Paddock "close to DS". Now the issue here is if you don't get one of the building on the south end of the Paddock section you can end up very long walk to DS (likely to far for most), but if you want to take your chances on a request this one would get you easy access to Disney Springs.

There are advantages and disadvantages to all the sections so if your request doesn't come through there is always a silver lining... Grandstand (first bus stop), Paddock (better pool), Carousel (somebody help me out... quite?)

Both are available. The Preferred Section will have 'Preferred' in the room category.

We were just at SSR and ended up getting placed in the Paddock section that contains rooms 6501-6836. That section is across the street from the Congress bus stop as well as the way to walk to Disney Springs. Fairly convenient location to the bus stop, Disney Springs and a small walk back to the Carriage House.

I am hoping to go this Fall and I am now leaning strongly toward SSR. AKV is really my first choice, but most likely it will be full, so SSR is my second. I am hoping to be able to book a preferred studio in the Springs area. If I am able to get in preferred, I really hope my request of the Springs will be granted, but if I land up in Congress Park, I will still be happy as I will be at Disney. Just gotta roll with it.
