The last time I was there the bus system was terrible granted it had only been opened for a few months..Anyone been lately and how is the buses now..??

going Sept3rd..

I was there during the last week of June -- and have nothing bad to say about the Bus system :)

We were at SSR - Congress Park in Oct 04 and June 05. Bus service was good both times.

Last week we rode the bus from AK to SSR. We weren't staying at SSR, just wanted to visit our new "home" and look around. It was early afternoon and we waited 45 minutes before the bus finally showed. While we waited I counted the other buses, 3 OKW, 3 POR, 3 FW, 4 CSR....

I questioned the bus driver about this and he said the frequency of buses was determined by the number of people staying at the resort. He also said the SSR buses were supposed to be running about every 30 minutes, so our wait was unusual.

It wouldn't have been nearly as frustrating if the other buses hadn't shamelessly pulled in and out, teasing us with puffs of air-conditioning and flashes of mostly empty seats.

interesting I am looking forward to it and hope that it is better this time than last time..It is such a huge resort they need more buses..

when we were there this past july bus service to the parks wasnt bad. even at later hours but for some reason it seemed that at Epcot every single time we were leaving the park we always had a terrible wait. dont know why but this happened many many times whether it was late afternoon or at the end of the day. but at the end of a long day at the parks any wait is always magnified

I was there in April, during New Englands spring break, and had no problems. Hardly ever had a wait. The longest wait was 15 from Epcot back to SSR.

Not having stayed at either resort yet, I would think a huge advantage for SSR and OKW is the ease with which you can get to your car and not rely on the bus system.

Right now there only 400 rooms open, which makes it easily the smallest Disney resort on-site.

While you will hear stories like sprite's above, I don't believe they are any more commonplace than any other resort on-site. Hiccups do occur from time-to-time at all resorts.

Problems with bus service were well reported within the first couple of months the resort was opening. Since then reports of problems have been few and far between.

True true we were there right when it opened so naturally there would be room for improvement...

Another question unrelated to SSR how do i get to put a picture under my name for when I psot and how do I get it so I can have it say all my stays to disney after I post is there a way to do this??

I totally disagree. We always have a car at OKW, and NEVER use it to get to the parks unless we are leaving for somewhere else directly from a park. It takes far longer to drive to a park, park in the lot, take the tram to the front gate......etc.....etc. It takes far less to time to take the bus from the resort to the parks unless you are talking about Animal Kingdom, and then it can be a bit faster to drive because of the stop the bus makes at the water park.

Click on "User CP" and then "Edit Signature." Whatever text is entered and saved in that signature box will be displayed whenever you post a message.

If you want photos (images) to appear, the photos need to be stored on a web page somewhere and you need to know the address of the photos in order to link to them. You can find details on this process on the Tech Support board.

do these buses all have access for wheelchairs or do you have to wait on a specific one

Yes, all buses are able to pick up passengers in wheelchairs or scooters. Space for at least two or three on each bus.

Each bus will hold a maximum of 2 wheelchairs and/or scooters. If someone has a foldable wheelchair, it is possible to load it on folded, which would mean more than 2 will fit. People seldom do that though (at least in our experience) because then you have to hold the heavy wheelchair during the drive.

Occasionally, a bus will have a non-working lift/ramp or something wrong with the tie down system. If this happens, the driver can radio to have another bus sent.
The
disABILITIES FAQs thread has some specific explanations about buses and wheelchairs/ecvs.
