Preferred view at SSR is either Congress Park (non-themed pool and right across the lake from Disney Springs) and the Springs (right next to the main themed pool, Carriage House where you check in and Artist's Palette-counter service food area). The Springs is a short walk from the Paddock pool area which is pretty nice and has a quick service food counter. Congress Park is the third bus stop, the Springs is the fourth bus stop. Perks at SSR is the short walk to Disney Springs (or you can also take a boat over to Disney Springs), the Spa which is very nice and the multiple themed pool areas - Springs (High Rock Springs pool), the Paddock and Grandstand (both of these have nice water play areas for kids, too).
SSR is a DVC resort, so it is considered deluxe and none of the deluxe resort scream Disney, just subtle theming. This one is themed to horse racing such as found at Saratoga Springs, NY. One bedroom and larger have laundry inside the villa (stackable washer and dryer), plus a full kitchen. Studio has access to free washer and dryer in the laundry rooms and a kitchenette (microwave oven, coffee pot, undercounter refrigerator, toaster). There is a nice Community Hall near the Spring pool that has activities for families to participate (some for kids, some entire family, but not a drop off child care location).
Check out the DVC Boards for more information on SSR. It really is a lovely resort. Nice landscaping, too.
