If I go with a contract at SSR how soon will we get into the system? I put in for a resale but want to go this June/July on points, am I out of time or is there still a chance to get ressies.

With a resale purchase you won't be able to make a reservation until you are in the DVC computer- usually within a week after closing.

With a direct purchase thru DVC, you can make reservations immediately (after paying your deposit)- but SSR purchases do sometimes have limitations regarding when your first stay may start- depending on the completion date for the building you purchase. You may not be able to make a reservation for any date prior to the completion date for your building - so be sure to clarify this with your guide in advance.

We are in the process of buying 200 points at SSR. Took the took on March 16th and made the official call on March 20th. Waiting now for our paperwork to arrive (takes a little longer since we are doing the downpayment by check instead of credit card).

Our points will have a September use year. Those can not be used until then, but I will be able to book a reservation as soon as the paperwork is process. The incentives offered to us with the purchase were either $8 per point discount with DVC paying our 2005 dues, or 100 DVC Developer Points that could be used immediately up until Dec. 31, 2005 at any DVC property except SSR.

We are taking the $8 discount, but if you wanted to use points right away you could take the Developer Points.

P.S. The number of Developer Points increased based on the size of your SSR contract. For 150 to 210 points = 100 DP's, at 211 point you get 160 DP's. It goes up from there - I have a chart, if you need to know about larger contracts let me know & I will look it up for you.

Even with a September Use Year, it's likely that the points can be used before 9/1/05. The relevant date is listed in the contracts as the Expected Occupancy Date. That's the date on which the building you own is scheduled to open. Points can be used anytime from that date forward. If the UY is later than the occpancy date, they can effectively be borrowed in advance of the UY.

As Doc said, find out when the building is scheduled to open. That's the earliest date on which points can be used.

Our points aren't available until August 1st. Our closing date is June 7th. The first date of occupancy is June 8th. Therefore we could use our points as soon as June 8th.

If you are wondering about how soon you can make reservations....I made our first reservations before we even sent back the signed contract. You are in the system as soon as your downpayment is cleared and your contract and membership number are drawn up.

Call today and find out when your closing will be. If it's during that massive closing date of June 7th, you'll be fine.
