saratoga springs ny/cooperstown ny, where to stay?

we lived in Saratoga springs for a few years and love it there. were thinking about taking a day trip with the kids during race season and hitting some of our favorite places. thinking more on it, dh would love to go to cooperstown, its been years since we have been there. so now I'm thinking maybe we could do both, but stay overnight somewhere between the two.

any suggestions as to where to stay? looking for someplace reasonable but nice/clean/decent. bonus would be to find a Marriott of some kind since we love our points, but doesn't have to be. will be mom/dad/3 kids.

We were in Saratoga Springs last June for a soccer tournament. Our teams stayed at a Residence Inn on Excelsior Ave in Saratoga Springs. It had breakfast included, free shuttle into the village, was 5 minutes to the fields we were on, and about 10 minutes from other shops and restaurants as well. It suited our purposes perfectly, plus the extra room is always a plus.

The property was immaculately clean, the desk staff were lovely, it had a nice patio area, small indoor pool, and some grills scattered around the property, plus a basketball court.
