Saratoga Springs disappointment

I just returned from a 5 day stay at Saratoga Springs and was disappointed by the lack of service. Is it me or is there a shortage of food service at the resort? Did I miss something?

We have enjoyed the Turf Club for dinner at SSR very much. Also, there is a food court just off the check in area. I believe one or two of the pool areas have some type of beverage and/or food service as well.

Plus, at SSR you are just a hop skip and a jump from Downtown Disney and the fabulous restaurants there.

At least SSR has a food court, most of the other DVC's do not.

I don't think they could keep more than 1 restaurant in business at SSR.

I think it's like the SWV area the thought if food was available at a walking distance then it would be OK.

I think everyone will just walk or bus over to DTD as there are so many food choices.

I do hope this is one thing they will work on fixing at SSR and then maybe giving tem their our cashRegister in the CS place as well.

I do agree even with the Turf Club there is a lot lacking .

I used to hard on SSR but have learned to like it.

Might I suggest that SSR's restaurants are in Downtown Disney. Some of the finest restaurants in the world (Fultons, Pucks, Rainforest, Irish Pub, House of Blues...) are only a 15 min walk

I'm happier with the food options at SSR now that they have opened the Turf Club; even the food court (Artist Palette, right?) seems a bit better to me now. The first year I didn't like most of the choices that they were serving - or maybe I have just given in to their chef, lol!
We rarely wind up eating over at DD - not sure why, but so far on our visits it is rare for us to sit down to meal over at DD. Rainforest cafe used to be pretty big with our kids when they were younger - I do want to try Raglan Road, too.

I just returned on December 17th. I think that the food choice was fine, but the amount of seating was lacking, it seemed every morning the first priority was to find a seat, and the ordering line was very poorly planned. It spanned almost to the door every day, and being right in the middle of the service area, people had to continually pass through the line to get their food and drinks etc. Overall I did enjoy the food and we were in Disney so oh well.

gee, & we thought the opposite (stayed at CP).
loved the convenience of AP for b'fast, or a short walk to DTD for lunch at WPE (YUMMY!!) or dinner at some outstanding restaraunts. we didn't eat at TC only cos we ran out of time .
we thought the variety & quality was outstanding (most resorts have only 1 or 2 restaurants ~ SSR has their own PLUS all of DTD ).

guess that's another reason why we like BWV also: not only do they have a few of their own, we can just stroll over to EPCOT for some incredible eateries & more variety

We thought it would be nice for another snack type location at SSR, maybe a small ice cream and sandwich shop or something outdoors, so you can enjoy the snack while walking around. It might be a nice gathering place if it had benches around and it would be another great opportunity for Disney to get more of my money.

We did eat at the Turf Club while staying there at the beginning of December and enjoyed our meal. The prime rib was good and the hamburger was very good (would have liked to have the onion rings with it instead of the fries but I'm an onion ring fan.
The only downside to Turfclub was a new waiter that was pretty bad but he tried hard and the limited menu, but it seems like all the restaurants at WDW locations have a smaller menu than in the past (maybe for quality reasons??).

We enjoyed SSR and can't wait for our next trip there.

We'll be back in February to BWV where I think restaurant choices wont be an issue at all.

I'm not sure what else you'd want. There is a CS restaurant and a full service restaurant plus all kinds of places to eat in DTD. What other kind of food service are you looking for?

we were down there the first week of Dec and was so blown away with how packed the Artist Palette was all the time. We normally would walk over and set down have a nice breakfast and grab our refills and then walk back and plan our day at the parks. Holy cow we couldn't get in and out in less then 45 to 60 minutes this time. I ask a couple people if they had yelled free food. As I was chatting with employee and she said well guess the secret is out this is to be our slow time. I found this kind of activity every morning it was unreal. And lunch wasn't much better. The dinning room area was not to bad for supper it seemed my parents were able to walk in every night without any wait or reservations.

Could you elaborate? I am trying to decide between OKW and SSR for a 4 nite stay before a cruise. Would be on DDP with no parks, so was really counting on the resorts restaraunts.

We were there the first week as well, and I can't say I experienced this at all, although I myself was only over there a couple times for food. At those times it was relatively empty - no problem getting seats or anything like that. However, they don't explain exactly HOW you are supposed to get your food and pay for it very well...

We never made it into the Turf Club eating area, but the "bar" was was more like a living room with a hole in the wall where a guy serves drinks. Not very big. In general to me, SSR seemed rather empty, except on the buses to/from parks...

We haven't been to OKW yet, so I don't know about the services, but I understand the rooms are larger there - most of the other DVC rooms are of comparable size.

The rooms at OKW are wonderful, but the CS is horrible. If you think finding a seat at Artist's Palette is difficult, it's virtually impossible at OKW. There are 5 (maybe 6) picnic tables and they are outdoors, so if it rains......owell.

I'm thinking that part of the reason Artist's Palette is so crowded is that people from OKW just drive "next door" to grab something to eat. I know DH and I did just that during our November trip...twice for breakfast and once for lunch. It was crowded, but at least by the time one person got the food a table became available.

I have to agree about the setup though. What a confusing mess! Didn't seem like the CMs really knew what was going on either.

saratoga has a Table Service Restaurant , Counter Service Restaurant and general store for groceries. What more do you want at the resort?

We loved SSR's dining options. Artist Palette has one of the best breakfasts and at a very reasonable price. And, with such great kitchens....we did alot of dining in our room.

We love the dining options at SSR! Turf Club is an excellent (quite possibly our favorite meal during our week's stay last April) sit-down option. Those options are expanded greatly with the proximity to DTD....we love Wolfgang Pucks in particular.

As far as Artist's Palette - we think it has one of the more unique counter service menus of any resort on property. We enjoy the various flatbreads quite a bit. In our three stays, the only truly busy time (as far as seating and lines) was at breakfast (around 8:30am or so). We just avoided that time of day and had bagels and cereal in the room. Lunch and dinner were never really crowded - lines were short and tables plentiful. (And one of our stays was Christmas Week last year!) We have also stayed at BWV and OKW - counter service at each of these resorts is much less convenient, has outside seating, and much less variety of food choices (OKW was particularly limited IMHO).
