Saratoga signage?

Ok, is this just our family? Seriously, bcs we think we must be missing something.

We stayed at the Grand Floridian DVC for two days (amazing by the way!) and then moved resorts to Saratoga. Everything went smoothly, and we were able to bypass check in and go to our room and use the magic band to get in. We are still impressed with that!

We took a bus from Animal Kingdom, and got off at the Paddock Stop. We are in villas 47.

There was a sign telling us Villas 45-54 were in this direction. (MAy be wrong about the numbers.) We walked that way, and saw the sign saying Villas 51-54. So we kept walking, thinking ours would be up a way. We didn't see anything, so we thought we were confused and went back. No help that way.

So, we look at the sign at the bus stop, and the print was blurred or something and we couldn't quite make out "villas 47." The map looked like it might be in building 15, so we looked for a sign somewhere saying "building 15." Of course, there wasn't one.

I had the bright idea that of course, the map would be in the app. I pulled it up, and after going to the Saratoga resort on the Disney app, we got a blank screen. (iPhone issue perhaps?)

Finally, we retrace our steps and decide to turn and go farther then we did. And, at the very end, there was our entrance. The thing was, it seemed to us it's almost hidden. Basically you have to walk almost all the way up to it before you see it.

There were no signs saying "villas 51-54 this way or villas 45-50 this way" that we could find.

It's our home resort, but we only come once a year at best. I don't think we are usually direction challenged ...

Are we missing something?

It probably could use improvement.
Perhaps each building has a themed name like Poly?
On our first stay, we couldn't find our 1st room and wound up asking for another.

Been there, done that! Let management know the next time you visit the front desk.

I thought it was just me! was in the Grandstand section. The first time I got off the bus (I transferred from 1 night at PO) I was lost and walked completely out of my way. It turns out my building was literally right by the bus stop but not marked very well. One night I decided to walk back to the resort from Disney Springs, I had no idea where I was!!! There were no signs that I could see. I felt like I was lost. :scared1:

Wife & i got lost at that resort once. Weren't staying there-just decided to walk around.
We kept looking for the boat dock to go to Disney Springs. No signs anywhere. Every CM we saw told us to just follow the signs. Crazy.

I totally agree with the difficulty in finding where your room is. All the buildings look the same, which really made it confusing for me, and I'm very good with directions. The signs could be much better along with the lighting.

I agree. We have gotten lost at SSS more than once. Slow learners I guess!

Well, it seems that I'm in very good company!! I have spent more time wandering around SSR, in 4 stays, than at any other 3 resorts combined! The signage is awful...practically non-existent!!

We got lost too lol no signs saying where 55 was...walked all around before we found it. We were in unit 5545 Paddock section

Getting lost at Disney is better than being lost at home, right? :)

Haha we were just there earlier this week. Totally got lost using the maps they have up. They're so faded. Ended up pulling up the MDE app and using that nap which provides walking directions. The map signs were just no help at all. But I agree, wandering around Disney is better than being at home. Except in the afternoon t-storm with two little kids in tow.

Hoping you all are sending emails to Member Satisfaction to make sure they know that signage is an issue for many.
:)

This is too funny. My husband is really good with directions and SS is our favorite resort so he knows it quite well!

Every time we leave the room he helps at least 1 person with directions- at night it's more like 2-3 people. We can tell the "lost look" so my husband will step in and tell them where to go. We always feel so bad b/c, if you get lost at SS, you are just lost- it's just so big!

Well the first problem is that you weren't in Congress Park. That's the BEST section of SSR. :D It's EASY too get around too.

I can't remember having an issue ever at SSR. But, I am a map guy. The Sheldon of directions :)
