My sister and family are going to Siesta Key (outside Sarasota) for a week on Friday. She is thinking about taking my nieces to Disney for a day. Actually, since a one day park ticket is a ridiculous $84, she's thinking about just doing Typhoon or Blizzard and DTD. It's about 2 hours away, 52 miles of that is on I-4, which from the Podcast I know is a freeway to avoid if possible, so I was just curious if anyone had a good alternate route? Or any tips for avoiding the worst of I-4?

You should be just fine using I4. All the traffic will be headed into Tampa if you head out in the morning, so you will see it on the other side. I4 is bad in Orlando in the morning, afternoon and evening (I guess it depends on what is going on in town). Coming from the west you should be fine as Disney is before Orlando exit #60. Enjoy your day!

Actually, the section of I-4 that you've heard should be avoided is through downtown Orlando. The section from Tampa to WDW is just fine. :drive:

^ Often crowded, but just fine.

I live on Siesta Key, so please feel free to PM me with any questions you might have... :wizard:
