Read it and laugh.... It is stuff like this that makes me almost ashamed that I indirectly worked in the news field. :sad2:

I actually didn't do anything specifically for news, per se, but I sure let them know when they screwed up, which was often. I bet the "kid" who is responsible for this is under 30 years old.... so that they can pay them less than good producers.

I used to work at a Fox local TV station that had TONS of news, but this happens everywhere, not just FOX.

Hey, if the post office can use a picture of the Vegas statue of liberty for their Statue of Liberty stamp then I see no reason Fox can't use Tina Fey as Sarah Palin ;)

My DDad has worked in television for over 40 years. His station decided to save money and offered the top 11 guys early retirement and a sweet package and they all took it. Then the station realized they were losing the top 11 guys...duh...I can't tell you how many times DDad has been called in to do a shift because the ones left don't have a clue or they are severely understaffed....morons....

I worked in a 24 hour tv news station for 6 years (cameraman/editor). Mistakes happen and everyone in the newsroom usually has a good laugh over it and ribs the offender for a long time afterwards. Nobody ever got fired for mistakes like these.

Pretty funny, but not the first time Fox news has shown one photo and claimed it was something else.

Oh my! :)

I was watching a national news channel about a year ago (pretty sure it was CNN) and they were interviewing someone from Des Moines. As I live in IA, I spotted right away that their graphic was wrong; they had DM, the state capitol, in the far SE corner of the state. It made me chuckle. :)

I agree with the PP that both women mush have giggled over the story. That totally had to be intentional, an irate underling saw a chance to embarrass the bosses or some fan of a morning shock jock took a chance.

I thought the link was going to be more grumbling by the paparazzi, I mean news teams following her, which is even more hilarious. Grown men who sound like a bunch of grumpy 4th graders on a field trip.

Both are actresses and look very similar. I can see the confusion. I hope nobody lost their job, but it serves as a good lesson to check and double check and then check again.

See, that's the thing.... where I worked, these were checked 3x before going to air, by 3 people, and yet these mistakes are still made.

It's not as bad as this:

There are perils associated with apparently using Google Image Search to get material for your official news broadcast. When a German television news channel, N24, was reporting a story on Navy SEAL Team Six, the unit which spearheaded the operation which ultimately killed Osama bin Laden, the channel accidentally used a fan-made logo for the Maquis, an anti-Cardassian rebel group which originally appeared in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, in place of the SEAL Team Six emblem.

As TrekMovie points out, there are a few differences between the logos: “[The newscaster] didn’t seem to notice (or care) that the skull in question was from a Klingon and included a bolted-on eyepatch. He and N24 also appear undeterred by the emblem’s inclusion of a phaser, 3 Klingon bat’leth swords and the word ‘Maquis.’” He also made on-air comments that acknowledged the Maquis logo and seemed to treat it as the real thing: “And they also have the ‘Team Six,’ that carried out the mission. They don’t have the skull in their emblem for nothing.”

and Cardassians are a fictitious non-human species, not to be confused with the Kardashians...LOL
