Sarah & Joe ~Luau Beach 4*29*12~ TR! Reviews posted!

I got engaged 4 1/2 years ago. That same week I started looking at dresses online. For 4 years I dreamt about one dress in particular. I'd pull it up every so often on the computer and dream about my wedding day. Today my mom and I went to a bridal salon and I finally got to try that dress on.
This is the dress I have been in love with for the past 4 years:

And this is how it looked on me:

I was sooooo disappointed when I tried it on. I didn't like the way it looked on me at all. I look HUGE in it.

BUT! It was the 4th and last dress I tried on. Thankfully, I was in love with another one by that point, dress #2. I can't find pictures of it online, and the ones I thought I saved to my phone didn't save so pics will have to wait until my fitting on Saturday. There's a TINY part of me that's afraid I'll regret not getting the one I've loved since I got engaged, but then I see the pics of me in it and I feel better about my decision!

Thats AWESOME u found ur dress!! :woohoo: that was such a great feeling when i got mines so i can imagine how u feel :goodvibes dont keep us in suspense 4 to long on how it looks popcorn::

Nine weeks to go, getting so close! We rearranged some plans on our trip and this is the tentative itinerary:

Arrive Saturday 4/28: We're renting a car to finish last minute errands, so that night we're going to take our families to Joe's Crab Shack and then to Congo River to feed hot dogs to the alligators (one of our favorite cheesy pastimes!) and play mini golf. We want to be in bed early because our wedding is the next day.

Sunday 4/29: Beaute Speciale is coming for hair & makeup at 11:30. We need to be out the door for right around 2pm for our ceremony. Ron Rosenzweig is marrying us on Luau Beach at 3pm. I'm assuming the ceremony will be over around 3:20, so we'll do pictures til 4. After that, we're heading to the GF for dinner at Narcoossee's for 5:40. I figure we'll have an hour before dinner once we get there, so we'll walk around and take in the GF! Depending on how we feel after dinner, we may go home, change, and head to a park. Otherwise, we'll relax with our families.

Monday: MAGIC KINGDOM DAY!!!!!!! We're heading to the park with our families. I can't wait to show them everything! We have a 5:10 reservation at O'Hana and then heading back for Wishes after. I'm almost as excited about this day as our wedding day!

Tuesday: Our families have a 6am flight home. When we get up it's lunch at Le Cellier for 1:10 and then Epcot for the day! That night I think we're heading to the boardwalk and I realllllllly want to try eating the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream!

That's as far as we've gotten with planning. We're doing the dining plan, so I feel like half my planning and excitement is dedicated to the food haha!

Congrats on getting so much done in a short time. I feel like I was almost reading a lot of my PS when reading yours. I am getting married on the beach at the Swan in June and having an at home reception (luau) in July. I'm allowing us a month to recover from disney and finish prep for the luau. We are also having our reception at Ohana and we will see Wishes from the beach. Can't wait to see your dress. I found mine last week too. Good luck with the rest of the plans!

I finally have some dress pictures!

I go for my next fitting on 3/26 and then one more to go before it gets sent off to Carolyn Allen's.

I decided I want my hair to look something like this:

Only 6 weeks left!!!

Hi Sarah!

Not long to go...we had our VR on the Luau Beach at 3 last month and it was perfect!! My husband planned it as a surprise that didn't go to plan (his PJ is on here if you're interested!

Can't wait to see how it all comes together.....and what a beautiful dress!

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks because we've been so crazy busy. We moved into our new house last Tuesday and have been trying to get unpacked and adjusted. We're getting there slowly but surely!

Some updates:
I had my 2nd dress fitting and go for a 3rd one 4/10. They had to let the top of my dress out another two inches, which I don't understand because the scale says I'm down. Trying not to stress over it and hoping this coming fitting will be my final. I'm torn between having the dress shipping to Carolyn Allen's and steamed there, bringing it on the plane and having CA steam it in my room the day of my wedding, or just hoping the steam job from David's Bridal will hold over through the flight and travel. Doubtful though.

We bought our rings! I've had my diamond wedding set for 4 years now and sent it off to be dipped, cleaned, and resized, but I wanted a wedding band I could wear to work and travel without having to worry.

I chose this one because it reminds me of waves and we're getting married on Luau Beach:

I can't find Joe's ring on the site but I'll post pics as soon as it arrives. They were both special order and should be here by the 23rd.

I am also 90% sure I'm buying this for my wedding jewelry. I like the understated look and that it won't drown out my dress.

What else?
Paid off the BEO and received my final confirmation!! I just have to pay the other half of the photobooth today and we're done!

Next week I'm going to Best Buy to get my mom a camera and stepdad a video camera to thank them for everything. Not only are they flying down for the wedding but they are also paying for and hosting our at home reception.

I need to take a picture of my headband and wedding invitations. I'll try to post those tomorrow night. Getting excited!

Just joining in now! Everything looks great! I love the details on your dress; you look beautiful in it. :goodvibes

As for the dress traveling, I know some of the girls on here didn't have any issues, but personally, I didn't want to deal with it, so I'm shipping it down, and having CA deliver it that morning, and then having it steamed. One less thing to worry about!

And I LOVE your wedding band. You've got excellent taste!

Here's a picture of my wedding set:

I just got them back today and trying hard to keep them in their boxes so they stay shiny for the reception!

Thanks Kristen! I just started reading PJs over here and am amazed at how unique each wedding is!

Hey! Another Sarah and you're wedding is the day after mine! :cool1:

Love the dress, it looks amazing on you! And your rings are just gorgeous! Good luck keeping them in the box, I know how tempting those pretty jewels on your finger are!

We're married! So exciting, we've had a great time here so far. Joe is taking a quick nap before dinner so I thought I'd start my TR. I'm going to review and rate the services first while they're still fresh in my memory.

Disney Floral - A: My bouquet was huge, heavy, and beautiful. The colors were so vivid and complemented Joe's tuxedo really well. It was much bigger than I was expecting! I loved it.
IMG_0040.jpg

Ron Rosenzweig - D: He was our officiant and the only reason I'm not giving him an F is because he showed up on time. He told us he was in a rush because he had to get to a concert that night...we booked him 4 months ahead of time, him getting to a concert was not my priority. He rushed through the entire ceremony, flat monotone voice and super scripted. He went through it so fast he ended up messing up our vows. I asked him to change ONE line in the entire service and he forgot to do it, but then stopped the ceremony and said "oops sorry, I messed up that line for you guys." HELLO, DON'T STOP, YOU'RE BEING RECORDED!! He then changed it to the correct line for Joe's vows. That really ticked me off. I wish he had just kept going, no one would have known he messed up except for us. He also had us facing the sun and him facing the shade so we're squinting the entire time. We couldn't even look at him because the sun was so powerful we had to close our eyes, so most of the time in the video we're looking down at the sand. Just very unnatural. If I could change one thing about the wedding it would be using him. Definitely a waste of $150.

Disney Photography - A+++: We had Dean for our photographer and he really went above and beyond. We took so many fun poses, he carried my dress for me, and he was so personable. The next morning we had a sneak peek photo in a frame delivered to our door.

Jose, on site coordinator - A: At first I was not impressed with him because Tanis called me the Friday before our wedding and said Jose would be calling me the next day to coordinate the ceremony. He never called at all that weekend and up until the limo arrived I had no idea what was going to happen and there was no way to get a hold of the coordinator over the weekend, it just went to voicemail. Once we arrived he walked us through the plan and was very accessible. He held our coats, took care of our families, and even ran out to grab a bottle of champagne for everyone for the limo ride.

Limo service - B: We were so surprised to learn that there was no champagne on board. There were glasses set up and ready but no actual bottle. We wouldn't have minded bringing our own at all, but no one told us ahead of time! We ended up paying $35 at the Poly for a bottle that Jose tracked down for us. So keep that in mind for on site weddings and make sure to bring your own bottle! The limo driver was average - good but after the ceremony he drove us almost all the way back to our hotel before we realized what was going on and had to tell him we had reservations at Narcoossee's. He was nice and polite and overall it was a good experience.

Narcoossee's - A+: They took us right on time. Our server was excellent, super friendly, and kept our drinks coming! We had our cake delivered from an outside vendor and he brought us plates, ice cream, to go boxes and cups, and took care of anything we could possibly think of. We spent 2 1/2 hours there. The food took about 45 minutes to come out, but it was worth every minute spent waiting. I had filet mignon and lobster tail, and Joe had the 2 pound lobster and it was hands down the best meal we've ever had. We are STILL talking about it and debating going back tomorrow before we head home!!

It's Tasty Too! - D: Where do I start....I had high hopes for this bakery because it came so highly recommended from someone on here. First, I wanted to say that the communication is slowwwww. It takes days to a week for them to respond. Once they took my payment for the cake I still didn't hear back, and I had to get in touch with them 4 days before my wedding because I still hadn't heard back to confirm delivery. I've been in touch with Jay and Heather for months about our cake. I emailed them several times about what we wanted, laid out and very specific. I asked for a two tiered square cake with teal fondant, strawberry cake with cream cheese filling for tier 1 and lemon cake with vanilla whip for tier 2....quilted pattern, ribbon at the base of each tier, and iced Mickey head pearls between the quilting. I received a thrown together, lopsided cake with the top tier much smaller, fondant smashed because they delivered it to us in a much smaller box than the cake fit into to the point where the top of the box was wide open and didn't even touch the bottom and the fondant stuck to the top...the dowel hole was visible and sunken on the top tier, the ribbon was lazily thrown together around the tiers, and they only did Mickey heads on the bottom tier with regular pearls on the top. They also made the strawberry cake the top layer and lemon the bottom tier. The cake was underbaked and bland. I was SO disappointed. My husband will eat ANYTHING and he said he didn't like it. He likes everything! I was also annoyed that we had to walk from Narcoossee's to the front of the GF because Heather's boyfriend didn't know how to get to the restaurant. It's a far walk in 90 degree weather with your wedding dress and heels! I didn't give them an F because from a distance it's still pretty...I just feel like my cake was an afterthought to them, like they remembered last minute they had to do it. It's not a good feeling. I definitely wouldn't use them again or recommend them to any other brides.

Here you can see the dowel hole and the wrinkled loose ribbon, as well as how sunken and messy the fondant is where the top tier meets the bottom tier

Beaute Speciale - A++++++: I requested Jackie because she came so so highly recommended from fellow Disbrides and I can definitely see why! I cannot tell you how special and beautiful she made me feel. She was personable and sweet and super fast. We looked at a couple of photos to get a rough idea of what I wanted and then she set off to work. Hair and makeup took about 1.5 hours and I have super thick hair! When I looked in the mirror after she finished I couldn't believe it was me. My eyes were bold and big and they really popped in pictures. My hair and makeup lasted ALL night, I didn't even end up needing the touch ups she gave me. This experience was definitely a highlight, I wish I could bring her home with me for our reception this weekend!

Next up, day 1!

Sorry to hear about some of your negative vendor experiences. I had a similar negative experience with my officiant but almost 2 years later, you won't even remember the bad parts! Your cake would have been so pretty if they just put a little more effort into it..I know they come highly recommended on these boards so I'm surprised!

You looked beautiful on your wedding day! Congrats

Sarah,

Congratulations on being married! That is awesome. You looked beautiful. I am glad that most of your day was as magical as it should have been. Narcoosee's is one of my favorite restaurants, so I am happy it was so great as a reception spot.

That totally stinks about Ron Z. It's not your problem that he had a concert to go to! This is how he does business. That is totally unacceptable. I would definitely mention something to your planner since he is on the approved Disney list. I am sure they would want to know.

Okay, the cake. Again, totally unacceptable! Tasty Too is supposed to be really good, I am surprised. Even in the photos you look so disappointed. I am really sorry this happened to you. Hopefully, your home reception cake is better, but it still shouldn't have happened.

Enjoy your last night. Can't wait to read the rest.

Sorry to hear about your officiant. That is not right. Also sorry about the cake. That is who we are using. I hope you tell them what you thought of their cake. They need to know.

Thanks for reading so far! Just a quick update on the cake situation. The more I thought about our cake the more upset I became. I actually teared up thinking about it last night, and I know that's silly but our wedding was so small and intimate and the details were really important to me. I was so upset that it wasn't as important to the cake creator. The cake was supposed to be one of the highlights, I couldn't wait to show Joe. It was kind of embarrassing to show it to our families and we made a joke of it at the time to make the best of it, but it was definitely not how I wanted it to go. Anyway, I emailed Heather about it and showed her some of the pictures. She emailed me this morning with a full refund and an apology stating she wouldn't try to make excuses, she was sorry for the quality and she thought it was a sad little cake. That made me feel a little bit better and I know how silly this is in the long run because we had a wonderful wedding day, but that darn cake was really important to me. I'm glad to know the bakery stands by its work and can own up when a mistake is made.

We are in MCO waiting to board for home! Will start the TR when I get back.

I am so sorry to hear that you had such a negative experience with Heather from 'It's Tasty Too'!!! We used Heather for our cake this time last year and our experience was the complete opposite!!! I am so sorry if mine was the recommendation you were going with!!!:( Communication was excellent and the finished product just as I had imagined. It was delicious and stayed fresh and edible for many days after our VR. Glad some of your vendors were okay and you had a good day over all. Many congratulations

Just catching up - I always enjoy reading about other Memories couples!:goodvibes Congratulations!

So very sorry about your cake - I can totally understand your disappointment! Good for you for contacting the vendor about it. Back when we got married I was so, so disappointed in my bouquet. The florist really dropped the ball and didn't give me what I asked for. We left right away for our honeymoon and by the time we got back I felt awkward about calling but darn it if that didn't always bug me a little bit. Fast forward to our 10th anniversary when we had our VR, the bouquet from Disney was awesome and totally made up for my original bouquet. In fact, when the CM from the Disney Florist handed it to me I said something like, "no one is going to be happier about this than my DH so he doesn't have to hear my complain about my bouquet for another 10 years":rotfl:!
