Just been pricing up for summer and see an option for Sant Fe Hotel that allows families of up to 6.

The room description says "Family room for 6 persons with 1 double bed and 2 sofa beds"

This must be new, following the re-furb. Up until now could only get family rooms for more than 4 in either Davey Crockett, NPB or DLH.

Anyone stayed in one in Santa Fe yet?

It's about time that Disney recognised that families of 5 and above are pretty common!

Hope this helps someone.

Interesting news. I don't think they'd fit 3 beds in a normal Santa Fe room, but I've not heard any menion of any construction. I wonder how they've managed to do it.

This is certailnly the way forwards. The family suites at WDW are apparently very popular. So much so that 3 of the 4 blocks at the new hotel they're building (art of animation resort) will be family suites.

When I booked, this for me was not an option. So will they still place us in 2 adjoining rooms (as requested) or just put us in this new family room?

Also, the price is now more then what we paid due to the 45% discount. So if I phoned up, could I request this new family room and get it for the same price I am paying currently (or will it go up)? :confused3

as I understand it, 2 interconnecting rooms is often cheaper than a family room at the onsite hotels anyway, so they won't put you in a family room if you haven't booked a family room.

they would also, if you wanted to change to a family room, charge you what it currently is priced at - so if its more expensive than the price you've already booked, you would have to pay the difference to change to a family room.

The other thing to consider is what the breakdown of your family is. As far as I'm aware the family room at DLH won't accept all adults/teens - if there are 5 people staying in it one of these needs to be under 12 and I presume the family room at Newport Bay is the same.

Also, don't forget the advantage of 2 adjoining rooms which is 2 bathrooms!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for that, just wanted it cleared up really, more so for the first part as we would prefer 2 rooms. It worked well on our last trip with 2 bathrooms and the 2 youngest watching Disney Channel when getting ready :thumbsup2

I think I would prefer 2 interconnecting rooms - although it depends on the price of the family suite. Hallelujah that they are at last recognising families of 5!

hi we got 2 adjoining rooms booked for july 18th, we had 45% off when we booked but when we priced the family room there was no discount and it was hundreds more, imo its much better value to book the adjoining rooms and as someone else said 2 bathrooms

That's a very valid point. I can remember someone (I think it may have been Ms Poppins) saying they had discount on a DLH family room last year and being surprised because in the past family rooms were always excluded from any offers.

Hi, yes it was me - DLH still shows discount off family rooms. Last year we were going to book two rooms at HNY, but missed the full 40% offer. By the time we were going to book it was only 20% off and worked out cheaper for us to have a family room at DLH, which was a great excuse to book the pink palace!

I agree though that two rooms is better, however they can never guarantee connecting rooms, and I know that some with very young children may prefer to be in one room.

Seems a shame they don't do a reasonable rate for the family rooms, given that it will probably be just one - family using it.

It maddens me that we need two rooms, (the hny rooms are huge!) because our youngest is under 7 and supposed to be 'free'. But the need for two rooms doubles the cost, so our 'free' child costs us an absolute fortune!
