For real, and I really like wine. I still have almost a whole bottle of this is my fridge b/c DH said he would drink it, but he hasn't. For some odd reason it reminds me of something that has tequila or something in it and i had an *adverse reaction* to tequila, so maybe that's it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sangria! I like a more traditional red wine versus the sweeter reds so here is my recipe. I happen to think it is yummy!

1 Bottle Rioja wine (Spanish Red Wine)

1 or 2 shots orange liqueur (Grand Marnier or Cointreau)

1 or 2 shots spiced rum (Capt Morgans, etc)

1 or 2 shots sweetened lime juice

LOADS of fruit slices....apples, oranges, limes, strawberries...whatever you want in terms of fruit!

I let this sit and soak overnight. It's FABULOUS IMHO :).

Hmm I've never tried it with spiced rum before. Thanks for the tip!

I don't like the W-S Sangria mixes either.

I love Sangria! But even more, I love Vino con Fruta, an Italian version, served at the Portobello Yacht Club in Downtown Disney.

So good!!! :goodvibes

We use this recipe and I think it is great!

Red Sangria

2 Bottles of light red wine, such as Pinot Noir, Red Burgandy (definately not Merlot)
1/2 Cup of orange flavored liquer (Cointreau, Grand Marnier)
1/4 Cup of Brandy
2 Cups of orange juice
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
top off container with a citrus flavored sparkling water

White Sangria

Same as above except 2 Bottles of white wine, such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon (not Chardonnay) and subsitute 2 cups of white cranberry juice instead of orange juice.

Enjoy! I served these at a cookout recently and I have one word of caution. The white sangia looks a whole lot like lemonade (especially w/ lemons floating in it). My neighbor must not have heard me proclaim the contents of the pitcher b/c we soon heard "Mommy, this lemonade is BAD!"
:rotfl: Quickly knocked cup out of child's hand.

Have fun
