Being we intend to use Southeast Airlines they only go to Sanford Airport (also St. Petersberg but I understand that Sanford is closer to WDW). Can anyone tell me if they have landed at this airport and if they had a preference in Car rental place there? We are a party of 9 so we're looking for a mini-van or bigger. I've never rented a car since I don't drive but I'm in charge of doing the research on this trip so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Since I haven't seen any other responses, I'll tell what I know. My father has flown in and out of Sanford 5-6 times in the last few years. He highly recommends it. It is a smaller airport with less traffic. He hates to fly to MCO. I Don't think I'll be using it any time soon since the direct flights from here were canceled.

No help on the rental. Good Luck.

we love flying into there too...dollar, alamo are the best car agencies to look into I have found.....:earseek:

We have used Sanford airport twice and both times we rented a minivan from dollar. This airport is very small so it makes it good to get in and out. Both the Dollar pick up and drop off locations were easy to get to. Check on www.mousesavers.com for the $199.99/week code for the van rental. It's the best price we found.

We flew into Sanford this past November, and rented a minivan from National/Alamo. We did use National, since it was a better rate. They were very convenient to use, but you will need to check with them, or any other company, as to rates on a larger vehicle, since even the biggest minivan only seats 8. We had a Pontiac Montana, and there were seven of us, so there was one extra seat.

Another option would be to rent 2 regular vehicles. Dollar was also on site, and seemed to have plenty of business. The rates for a large full-sized van may be prohibitive.

Check for codes on Mousesavers.com - but these are usually only good for minivans and regular sized vehicles.

Hi Gang..........I have a question, How far of a drive is it to get from the sanford airport to WDW??? How much further is it than MCO??

Thanks gang.........Have A Disney Day!!!!!!princess:

It's about an extra 25 minutes - I'd say it was about 50 minutes total, but we really didn't hit any traffic. You would need to allow a little more time if you were travelling during rush hours.

Thank you all for your responses. One more question about Sanford how far is it from the DTD? We figured we might go with the 2 smaller cars anyway because of the age differences of the adults us older folk might want to come back to the hotel sooner than the younger ones! And some of them are planning a ride to Daytona, for the races while the others want to go to the Holy Land on our down day so 2 cars would accomodate us better. I think we're going to go with Dollar, Mousesavers did have some discount codes which they do have for the time period we're going. Thanks again.
